advantage of the old push-button phones Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson push-button mobile phones were produced in the years of fierce market competition cellular communication. Unviable devices were sifted out by themselves, broke down, and could not cope with the main task. That is why the previously popular Sony Ericsson phone models are needed now! They will become indispensable assistants in business negotiations, they will not be discharged at the wrong moment and will not break if they fall off the table. Even if you need to replace something, you can buy any items from us with a guarantee from the manufacturer. Thus, the repair will be painless and will not hit your pocket. Thanks to a reasonable pricing policy, we can offer push-button and old touch phones at reasonable prices with delivery. The models discontinued by the company are functional, they have a package of options sufficient for comfortable use. Opt for rare mobile phones from Sony Ericsson and feel real comfort!

  1. Let me start by saying that not everyone knows how best to disconnect the charger from the phone. If you just try to pull the connector in a straight line away from the phone, then this happens with great difficulty and you have to use force, otherwise you can ruin the phone. In fact, it is pulled out easily and simply - it needs to be “broken”, as it were, you break a bar of chocolate, only on one side you hold the phone, on the other - the connector itself. Having done this, the connector itself comes out of the phone. This is also written in the instructions, but many simply do not read it, or skip the charging section. This design, in my opinion, is one of the best - the phone is tightly docked to the sob, it does not fall out, and at the same time it is easy to get it, and there are no extra parts to undock.
  2. How to get GPRS/MMS settings without lengthy instructions telecom operator? Usually this way works. Menu (joystick click) -> "Settings" icon -> "General" -> "Setup Wizard" -> "Upload settings". We do it, we wait, after some time we will be offered two types of settings - GPRS & MMS, then click "OK". All! After that, in most cases, you do not need to do anything else!
  3. Side press on the phone "Volume up" button shows phone information(“Phone status”) - brand, battery percentage, memory size, and can also show the service number on the SIM card that you indicated - I always drive in the number of the SIM card phone itself there. It is very convenient when you use a mobile phone, but don’t remember the numbers - press “Volume up” and the number is in front of you. But it must be driven in, so we look at the next paragraph, how to do it.
  4. To specify a number, for example sim card number, and for it to be visible in "Phone status", do: joystick down (usually there is “Contacts”, which is what we need) -> “Functions” -> “Add. functions" -> "Spec. numbers ”-> “My numbers” and then select the item “My mobile” and drive in the number there. It will be shown in the “Phone Status” for this particular SIM card! Now, if you insert another SIM card into your phone, it will not be shown - these numbers are tied to SIM cards!
  5. Do you know that whenever you edit any text, you can copy to clipboard and paste from it? If you don't know, then remember it! It’s very convenient, for example, when you need to send an SMS to someone with your friend’s number - then I do this: I find in contacts whose number to send, do “Change contact”, select the number, then “Change”, but instead of changing, I click "Functions" -> "Copy all". Then I exit without changes, go to SMS, and there through "Functions" -> "Change" -> "Paste". This is one example of using copy text. You can also copy from the phone's browser (any piece of text), etc..
  6. Phone has profiles, each of which remembers those sound, volume, vibration settings etc.. that you have installed while in this profile. It is convenient when, for example, you are at home and go to bed - just change to the "Home" profile and you already have completely different ringer volume settings, and vibration is turned off, for example. If you increase the volume in the “Home” profile, as usual (via “Menu” -> “Options” -> […]), then all this will be saved later in the settings of this particular profile! This rule applies to all phone profiles. Think about how often you used, for example, changing the volume, and not just changing the profile?
  7. Here are some buttons, which work in certain modes:
    ‘#’
    - in standby mode, pressing and holding the button - turn on / off the sound, in SMS dialing - switch the input language, and in browser mode with SmartFit disabled - general form pages with a frame to move the view screen around the web page (this only applies to phones with the latest generations of firmware, for example W980i, W995i, C510, and in my experience - if you have just such a firmware, then it's better to go to www with SmartFit disabled - so convenient);
    ‘*’
    - in the mode of typing SMS and text - pressing and holding - on / off T9, and in the camera mode in older models (for example, w610i) - on / off the flash.
  8. Almost everywhere where the menu is, they work there buttons 1-9 to call items. If in the main “Menu” mode (clicking the central button of the joystick), then the phone button that is located in the same position as the menu item on the screen is responsible for calling the desired item ('1' is the call to the top left item, and '9 ' or '#' - calling the bottom rightmost, etc..). If you take the menu by the "soft button", then the numbers from 1-9 are called from the first point to the ninth.
  9. Almost everything is already Sony Ericsson phones have one very cool feature. Her name is "Track ID". If you hear any melody, but don't know who sings and what the song is called, you turn on TrackID, it records a few seconds of the song (after conventional microphone, but it is also possible from the internal radio) and sends the recorded piece via GPRS to the Sony Ericsson server. After a couple of seconds, you are written on the screen - the name of the album, the name of the song and the name of the artist. All this is free, except for GPRS traffic, and of course, they will not put the server's IP addresses in their own - they are masters of this!
  10. And the last recommendation - do not forget that if you find some glitches on the phone, then good to update phone software directly from itself - “Menu” -> “Settings” -> “General” -> “Update service” -> “Search for updates” (before that, it is better to charge the battery by more than 50%). Before that I recommend making contacts to the internal card of the phone ("Contacts" -> "Functions" -> "Additional functions" -> "Advanced" -> "Copy to card"). Also, if you decide to buy new phone, on the Sony Ericsson website usually for every phone is its virtual model— try menus, etc..

In general, I love Sony Ericsson for its functionality! There are a lot of subtleties, knowing which, you will be able to work with your phone most efficiently! This, of course, if you have a phone of this brand. If not, then I recommend to think and change your model to it 😉

a swan song

A bit of history:

Ericsson's only resource for manufacturing electronic components for mobile phones in the 90s was the Philips plant in New Mexico. In March 2000, a fire broke out at the plant, destroying equipment and putting production lines out of action. Philips was quick to assure Ericsson and Nokia (which also ordered the chips from there) that production would be suspended for no more than a week. It soon became clear that troubleshooting would take several months, and Ericsson was faced with a shortage of components. This called into question its future as a manufacturer of mobile phones. At the same time, problems with the supply of chips also affected Nokia, which was forced to urgently look for new equipment suppliers. Ericsson, the third largest mobile phone manufacturer at the beginning of 2001, faced serious risks caused by fire. In order to reduce production costs, the company decided to cooperate with Asian manufacturers, and in the first place - with Sony.

In August 2001, Sony and Ericsson agreed on the terms for merging their mobile divisions and further cooperation. The total number of employees at the time of the founding of the united enterprise was 3,500 people. Since 2002, both companies finally stopped producing phones under their own brands, and the line planned for 2002-2003 was already produced under the Sony Ericsson trademark.

Afterword:

At the end of October 2011, Ericsson agreed to sell its stake in Sony Ericsson to a Japanese partner.
It's sad that Ericsson, the top cell phone manufacturer at the beginning of the century, did not follow its own path of development, but got in touch with the Japanese monster.

The review will consider the last product of the alliance, which can now be found at an attractive price of 7490 rubles. Large retailers have decided to get rid of stale Sony Ericsson products and reduce prices. A couple of days ago I could buy Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc for the same amount as Ray. Significantly cheaper, a branded portable charger with a battery for Ray and a bluetooth headset, but it's a pity there is no money to buy everything.

The box made me remember the old days, it is so big that it is now unusual to see it in the era of compactness.
I was more or less pleased with the complete headset, at least a little, but the manufacturer took care of it, unlike HTC, which stick slag everywhere under the name INNOVATION)
The small memory card upset me, remembering the starting price of the product 15990 rubles, it was possible not to be greedy and put 16Gb, or at least 8Gb.

Design

The design of the device is strict, very pleasant with some little things and features. The side edges of the smartphone are covered with metal pads. The top and bottom are made inclined and directed parallel to each other.
The back cover is only in black and has the most successful of the entire line, a matte finish with a metallic sheen.
At the top end there is a 3.5mm headset jack and a universal power/unlock button. On the right side is the volume control key.
At the bottom of the front panel of the device is the only mechanical, large oval-shaped key, which also allows you to unlock the phone and return to the main desktop. On top of the key there is an oval rim with a built-in backlight that informs about missed calls and new messages. The indicator is not happy, during charging it lights up red, then, when the battery reaches a certain capacity, it lights up green and it does not turn off until the end, which makes it absolutely useless.

Exploitation

When you take RAY in your hands for the first time, you are amazed at the compactness and subtlety of the device. Unusual at first, but you soon get used to a small screen with a large resolution of 480x854 pixels and a large number of pixels per inch equal to (PPI): 297. What makes the picture sharpness is beyond praise, individual pixels are very difficult to distinguish. At first, I didn’t peel off the film with the indicated characteristics, I thought about buying it, but looking closer, I noticed that the film was there and unrealistically neatly glued.
I have little experience with Android devices, but I will immediately note the graphics performance of Adreno 205, compared to Adreno 200. Dandelion theme SAMSUNG Galaxy The S3 looks much sharper and smoother, thanks to the screen resolution and graphics. I was glad that Angry Birds Stars Wars was finally launched on the 205th chart hurray))))
The camera frankly disappointed me when I found out that the module is the same as in Arc S. It doesn’t shoot as quickly, you need to wait about a second to take a picture (and the flash is unable to give short-term pulses, you can only turn it on and shoot. Without a hardware shutter button you have to click on the screen to get a photo, it is not very convenient and informative.
Music playback is at a decent level, I personally liked this device more than in all my HTCs, but the sound does not reach SAMSUNG Galaxy Note he is still my ideal in the field of playing music))
Version Android 2.3.4 does not want to upgrade to 4.0, writes that the latest and latest is installed (although I read that the manufacturer announced the possibility to upgrade to 4 droids.)

Access to the SIM slot and memory card without removing the battery is not possible.

Testing

The test was carried out using the following programs:
VELLAMO;
AnTuTu Benchmark v.3.0.3;
Smartbench 2010;
Smartbench 2011;
Smartbench 2012.
The sensor was tested using AnTuTu Tester.

The sensor showed excellent performance, multi-touch is designed for 10 simultaneous touches.

Battery life

As in most Android devices, the life of a smartphone with the active use of Internet resources is within 4 hours 34 minutes. The charging time could not be set, the indicator spoils everything, but it is also standard 2 hours 30 minutes. In terms of autonomy, there are no miracles.

Conclusions:
Phone for fans of former nostalgia for Sony Ericsson. Makes it the last of its kind, which adds a couple of pluses to the image of the device. For its price, design and workmanship, the smartphone is worth $250. Do not miss your chance, there is still an opportunity to buy, now a rare item.
