When you take a smartphone in your hand, you understand that there is no deception here and you have a really interesting, beautiful device in front of you.
The most surprising thing for me was that Samsung managed to combine the continuity of their correct design in their opinion and make an objectively very entertaining device in terms of appearance. Of course, you may not like the design, but in any case, it is worth recognizing that it came out interesting and due to the display curved at the edges, there is simply nothing like it on the market.
Owners of the S6 Edge should be warmed by the idea that nothing like this will appear on the market in the near future. Yes, perhaps at the beginning of 2016 we will see something bent in a similar way from some eminent manufacturer, but not a single Chinese company that is now rushing to Olympus will be able to do something like this in the next year or two. The latter will look for ways to stand out in other directions (lack of side frames, etc.) and this is definitely a plus for you and me, consumers.
Sorry, but I can't help but compare the device with the iPhone 6. In Edge, like the regular S6, the rear camera sticks out very noticeably above the surface of the case. It is clear that this nuance is due to an engineering solution - placing an excellent photomodule in a thin case is a task that no one can do so far. However, the Koreans managed to beat this moment and the back side, even with a protruding camera lens, is perceived as a whole.
The same cannot be said about the device from Apple. Here the camera sticks out, apparently because the engineers simply did not have time to complete the product on time. This is exactly the impression you get when you look at the iPhone 6.
Ease of use

The thing is that during normal operation, accidental clicks on the screen in the place of its curved ends are not uncommon. For example, in the browser, we are used to the system automatically aligning the text to the screen borders with a double tap, but here the text goes on curved sides and it becomes difficult to perceive the text in this position. Each time you have to adjust the text to fit the usable area of the display by additionally scaling the text manually with two fingers. Comfortable? Unlikely.

I would not say that the color reproduction is perfect in both devices. In the S6 Edge, the image is slightly greenish, while in the MX4 Pro, the colors are slightly pinkish. Here, someone likes what they like, but traditional green displays in solutions from a Korean corporation are not close to me.

The actual brightness of an OLED display depends on the nature of the image. In the worst case - on a white fill in full screen - you can get 450 cd / m2, which can already be considered a good result. But if the smartphone in auto mode is in the bright sun, then the screen brightness can rise as much as 786 cd / m2. This is an unprecedented level of brightness for smartphones: even the recent Note 5 is a bit behind. The anti-glare properties, viewing angles and contrast ratio of the OLED are simply excellent, which adds to the S6 edge+ screen points.
When it comes to color reproduction, the Samsung GALAXY S6 edge+ comes with four color profiles to suit different tastes and needs. They are quite different from each other.

We have already tested the Galaxy S6 edge and Note 5, the models are identical, the only difference is that the S6 edge + does not have a stylus. Therefore, do not be surprised by a short review, because the point is to save your time. Look at the measurements of benchmarks in comparison with competitors - everything is about the same.
We only note that the operating time of the edge + is slightly higher than that of the "regular" edge. The results themselves match the measurements we made for Note 5. We get about 10-11 hours of video playback, about 3.5-4 hours of gaming and more than 7 hours of PCMark.
As for the camera, it is also exactly the same. The module, the shooting algorithms have not changed compared to the Galaxy Note 5. And why change something that is already one of the best on the market? Look at the gallery of pictures, in our opinion, there is nothing to complain about:

I immediately realized that I was so old that I did reviews of all generations of the Galaxy S. The smartphone has come a long way, the models were more successful and less, there were those that were associated with other smartphones, there were those that looked soapy in appearance ... But from the second half 2014, the company's vision began to change dramatically. First we saw an amazing in my opinion, which I still use and which I consider the best smartphone on the market, then there was a cool Alpha in a very nice case, the A line, in which, for some reason, metal was camouflaged under plastic, and now we have seen the crown of this vision. The new Galaxy S6 turned out to be very beautiful and pleasant, and the S6 Edge is even more interesting. Of course, because of their limits.
There is no doubt that Samsung is showing its capabilities to a greater extent. Only for the first time they made an asymmetrical smartphone with one curved edge and began to explain this primarily with new functionality (I even), and now they have created a really beautiful smartphone with an emphasis on design. I like this explanation a lot better. Well, in fairness, everyone likes the new Galaxy S6, as far as I can tell from personal observations. Like this high tech help the designers!
The only thing I like more is the regular S6. Firstly, it visually uses more metal, and secondly, it is more practical, since the curved glass edges will break more easily when dropped. But we'll talk about it next time.
Looking at design new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, you understand that Samsung has changed course dramatically. Unlike the Galaxy A line and the Note 4/Edge model, the metal in the S6 was not painted, and rightly so. On my Note 4, some chips appeared on the coating, I wrote about this in, nothing like this will happen here. On the whole I new design I also like it, the main thing is that now no one will say for sure that the flagship Samsung looks cheap. I wonder what the Note 5 will be like now?
Of the elements located on the sides, I will note the IR port, it's cool that it was not thrown, as well as a fingerprint scanner. It is still built into the home key, but now you don’t need to fiddle with it with your finger, just touch it. It works much better, but there are still enough false positives. And given the impossibility of setting a simple password for alternative unlocking, sometimes you have to take a steam bath with entering numbers and letters.
Display
The screen has been the most important part of a smartphone for 8 years now. Like it or not, it occupies the most space, it is at it that you constantly look and it is through the display that all communication with the smartphone takes place. And here we have not just a display, it's just magic! No, really really cool. Even though the S6 Edge uses the curved sides more as part of the design, there is a functional load on them. Exactly the same as in Note Edge, on the side face (moreover, here you can choose which one) you can place the night clock, news and some other application strips.
Because the screen is Super AMOLED, information can only be displayed on a certain part of the display. That is, night hours will practically not discharge the battery. In addition, it became possible to hang 5 favorite contacts on one of the faces and set a color for each. Then, if you put your smartphone screen down, and one of these contacts calls you, you will know who it is without picking up the phone, as the light from the curved edge will bounce on the surface. I use a Pebble watch for this.
Like the original model, the resolution of the 5.1″ display is 2560x1440 pixels. The density of pixels per inch is 577.
At certain angles, you can notice a slight green, but the problem has not been there for a long time. White color as close to reality as possible. The only thing is that due to the bending of the glass, the curved edges at some tilt angles refract the colors of the display. Visible on a white background.
Camera
The camera is the best for me. important component smartphone because I take pictures all the time. Instapota, lapography, you understand... And for myself, I consider only those smartphones that shoot well. Samsung Galaxy S has been ahead of most competitors in this regard since the first generation, S6 is no exception.
It's very good camera, which is arguably the best in smartphones to date. The 16 MP main sensor (in 4:3 format - 12 MP) with optical stabilization and aperture of 1.9 allows you to achieve high-quality images even in low light. The front is now 5 MP with a wide capture angle. The software has changed, it has become much simpler, and now everything and everywhere fits on one display. There are many nice moments, one of them is that you can take a selfie just by touching the heart rate sensor on the back. Unlike the previous generation, it works very cool!

Another cardinal difference from previous generations was the lack of a version with a Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. They say it's overheating. I don’t know how it was there, but the Exynos 7420 is physically more technologically advanced than the new Snapdragon 810. It is made using a 14 nm process technology, as opposed to the latter’s 20 nm. And that means it has to be more energy efficient. Graphics - Mali T760, RAM 3 GB. Built-in memory from 32 GB. Judging by the benchmarks, the performance margin of the smartphone is huge. However, tanks, unfortunately, still do not run with maximum graphics settings, as on iOS. But these are the features of the adaptation of the game.
