Over the years, the epistolary method of communication has evolved from paper to electronic. There are 200 email services on the Internet, with the help of which users communicate and send data via email. Each online mailer has its own structure and individual interface, but along with this, programs have been developed that work with mail without a browser. The question arises of how to correctly create an external email address in a computer program. An example of setting up Mail.ru - Outlook will help answer it.

Local mail client

Online developers computer programs They offer users a choice of software that acts as an electronic client. Each local mailer has an individual interface and useful features. But is it worth loading your computer with programs if they are available for browser use? Yes! Microsoft Outlook 2013 and Outlook Espress clients prove this. Outlook itself usually does not take much time from users.

A person usually has two or three email addresses that he regularly uses, but these accounts are registered on separate online services. Of course, you are allowed to operate with one mailer by setting up personal mailboxes on it. But in this case, the external service does not guarantee that the letter from someone else domain name will go correctly.

The Outlook interface was created for users regardless of the level of computer skills, so setting up an online resource is considered on it. An example of an external service will be the online mailer Mail.ru.

What you need to set up Mail.ru - Outlook

Before you start working directly, it is worth checking:

  1. An account registered on the Mail.ru website.
  2. Installed Outlook.

If the MS Office package was previously present, the mailer will be found among the list of standard software. Outlook 2013 or Outlook Express can be downloaded as a separate component

It is worth considering that for IMAP the incoming mail server is imap.mail.ru; for POP3 - pop.mail.ru.

8. The Outlook messaging system allows sending and receiving

E-mail is increasingly replacing regular postal mail. The number of users sending correspondence via the Internet is increasing every day. In this regard, there was a need to create special user programs that would facilitate this task and make receiving and sending email more convenient. One such application is Microsoft Outlook. Let's find out how you can create an electronic mailbox on the Outlook.com email service, and then connect it to the above client program.

Mail registration on the Outlook.com service is done through any browser. Type the Outlook.com address into the address bar of your browser. The web browser redirects to live.com. If you already have a registration record with Microsoft, which is the same for all services of this company, then simply enter your phone number, email address or your Skype username, and click on the “Next” button.

If you do not have an account with Microsoft, then click on the inscription “Create one”.

The Microsoft registration form opens in front of us. In its upper part, enter your first and last name, an arbitrary username (it is important that it is not taken by anyone), a created password for logging into your account (2 times), country of residence, date of birth, and gender.

At the bottom of the page, an additional email address (from another service) and phone number are recorded. This is done so that the user can more reliably protect his account, and if he loses his password, he can restore access to it.

Be sure to enter the captcha to ensure the system checks that you are not a robot, and click on the “Create account” button.

After this, an entry appears stating that you need to request a code via SMS to confirm the fact that you are a real person. Enter the number mobile phone, and click on the “Send code” button.

After the code has arrived on your phone, enter it into the appropriate form and click on the “Create account” button. If the code does not arrive for a long time, then click on the “Code not received” button and enter your other phone number (if available), or try again with the old number.

If everything is fine, then after clicking the “Create account” button, the Microsoft welcome window will open. Click on the triangle-shaped arrow on the right side of the screen.

In the next window, we indicate the language in which we want to see the email interface, and also set our time zone. After specifying these settings, click on the same arrow.

In the next window, select a theme for the background of your Microsoft account from those offered. Click on the arrow again.

In the last window, you have the option to include an original signature at the end of the messages you send. If you don’t change anything, the signature will be standard: “Sent to: Outlook.” Click on the arrow.

After this, a window opens saying that your Outlook account has been created. Click on the “Next” button.

The user is moved to his Outlook mail account.

Linking an account to a client program

Now you need to link the created account on Outlook.com to Microsoft Outlook. Go to the “File” menu section.

In the window that opens, in the “Email” tab, click on the “Create” button.

A service selection window opens in front of us. Leave the switch in the “Email Account” position, where it is by default, and click on the “Next” button.

The account setup window opens. In the “Your name” column, enter your first and last name (or an alias), under which you previously registered on the Outlook.com service. In the “Email Address” column, indicate the full address mailbox on Outlook.com that you registered earlier. In the following columns “Password” and “Password check”, enter the same password that was entered during registration. Then, click on the “Next” button.

The procedure for connecting to your account on Outlook.com begins.

Then, a dialog box may appear in which you should again enter your username and password for your Outlook.com account and click on the “OK” button.

After completion automatic settings, a message about this will appear. Click on the “Done” button.

Then you should restart the application. This will create a custom Outlook.com profile in Microsoft Outlook.

As you can see, creating an Outlook.com mailbox in Microsoft application Outlook consists of two steps: creating an account through a browser on the Outlook.com service, and then linking this account to the Microsoft Outlook client program.

After you have registered your mail account for effective and comfortable work with your correspondence, you need to use special mail programs that make our life much easier.

In this article, I will look at the process of setting up the Microsoft Outlook Express email program and describe in detail all the steps required to do this.

When we launch Outlook Express for the first time, we see the following window:

The first thing we need is to enter your name in the name input field, here you can enter any name or nickname at your discretion. It will be displayed in the From field.

After filling out the name field, the “next” button will light up, click on it and see the following window:

here, in the email address input field, enter your registered email address, it is important to enter it correctly. After entering the address, click “next” and you will be taken to the following window:

In the incoming message server selection field (1), as a rule, the POP3 protocol is most often used. So, to begin with, select it, but in case of an error, try selecting another protocol, IMAP for example. The POP3 protocol is used to store the mailbox on the user's computer, and IMAP is used on the server.

In the field (3) outgoing message server, you must also enter the address of this server.

In my case, the data for the incoming and outgoing servers is the same, but this does not always happen, as a rule they are different.

After entering all this data, proceed to “next”. Please note that all three of these fields are required to be filled out; moreover, the performance of your mailbox will depend on how correctly you fill them out. Therefore, here you need to enter all this data correctly.

After the transition we get to this window:

In the “account” field, enter the login you have chosen; to log in to the mail, as a rule, you generally only need to enter the login here, but in some cases it is also necessary to enter the domain, for example: roman@site, here it is individual. But first, I recommend trying just entering your login, without any domains.

In the “password” field, enter the password you created; you can also check the “remember password” checkbox so as not to constantly enter it. Let's move on to "next". The following window appears before us:

where we are congratulated on successfully setting up mail. Click “ready”. And we check the functionality of the mailbox. To check your mailbox, you must press the key combination Ctrl+M or press the key:

or select the menu item “Tools” > “Deliver mail” > “Deliver mail”.
