Preparations for September: what new Apple will show users in the fall. Preparations for September: what new Apple will show users in the fall From October to December

For their annual fall event, which takes place today, September 7th. The invitation is made in a very minimalistic style and does not reveal almost any details regarding the content of the upcoming meeting.

The event under the slogan "See you on the 7th" will begin at 20.00 Moscow time (10:00 local time) at Bill Graham in San Francisco. Apple traditionally did not designate the theme of the event, however, judging by the numerous leaks, we can already talk about the main innovations of the company.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

The network has already accumulated a lot of rumors about the new Apple smartphones. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, apparently, will be similar in appearance to their predecessors, including the resolution and screen size. Significant changes include the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack and a waterproof case.

The devices will receive a more efficient Apple A10 processor, 32 GB of memory in the base configuration and 256 GB in the top one - Cupertino decided to abandon the iPhone with 16 GB of flash memory. The RAM will be 2 GB for the iPhone 7 and 3 GB for the iPhone 7 Plus. The resolution of the matrix in the cameras will remain the same - 12 megapixels, but the sensor will be improved. The 5.5-inch model will receive a dual camera, one of which will provide optical image stabilization and a wide viewing angle, and the other will provide two or three times optical zoom.

If Apple introduces new items to the public on September 7, then smartphones can be pre-ordered as early as September 9, and purchased in the store on September 16 or 23.

Apple Watch 2

Many are waiting for an update to the Apple Watch smartwatch, hoping for more gadget autonomy. And these rumors seem to be true. The network has photos of the smart watch battery with a capacity of 334 mAh, while the original smart watch model is equipped with a 245 mAh battery. Based on the capacity of the power supply, Apple Watch 2 will last up to 35% longer.

Apple Watch 2 will not receive an LTE module and will again depend on the iPhone to connect to the Internet. Despite the fact that the original Apple Watch came out in 2014, it is expected that the new generation of the product will not bring noticeable changes in the external design - the key innovations will affect the technical characteristics. We are talking about GPS support, a more powerful and energy efficient processor and new sensors.

Macbook Pro 2016

The event could see the release of a major update to the MacBook Pro. Laptops will become thinner, get an OLED touch panel that will replace the hardware function buttons. This component will be able to adjust to the tasks currently running and display the right ones at the moment the button is pressed.

Also expected is an integrated Touch ID fingerprint recognition, likely built into the power button, and four USB-C connectors. The updated MacBook Air will also get USB-C, but no further details have been released yet.

5K monitor?

At the beginning of the summer, Apple stopped selling Thunderbolt Display monitors. If rumors are to be believed, Apple may introduce an all-new 5K monitor co-developed with LG Electronics Corporation. At the moment, information about the announcement at the September presentation has not been confirmed, so the device may debut in October along with the new MacBook Air and iMac models.

Software updates

At the event, Apple will talk about its new operating systems iOS 10, watchOS 3, tvOS 10 and macOS Sierra. After the presentation is over, the company will release the final beta versions of the OS. iOS 10, watchOS 3, and tvOS are expected to be released to the public on September 14, and macOS Sierra in October.

Talk to a set-top box, send an SOS signal with your watch, make purchases online with one click and learn to be a programmer for free - Apple told what its users can do this fall

The annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is one of Apple's key public events where the company talks about software updates for its entire line of devices. At WWDC-2016 on June 13, CEO Tim Cook and other managers told an audience of 5 thousand developers about new versions of operating systems (OS) for Mac computers, iPhone smartphones and smart watches Apple Watch. RBC identified five key innovations.

Mobile operating system iOS 10

The head of Apple called the update of the mobile OS for iPhone and iPad "the largest in its history." The changes affected many applications built into the system. So, in the iMessage messaging service, the functions of watching videos, sending payments and editing photos appeared.

For the first time, developers have the ability to embed Siri into other applications. Thanks to this, users will be able to control some of the services by voice: for example, turn on the air conditioner in the car. Built-in Apple maps are now integrated with the service for calling a taxi Uber: the owner of an iPhone or iPad can order a car directly from the Apple application.

In iOS 10, Apple used differential privacy technology, which will collect anonymized data about users in order to know how they behave on the Web. The company will not create a user profile, all data will be anonymous.

For developers, iOS 10 is already available, users will be able to “upgrade” in September 2016.

macOS Sierra computer operating system

Another major update from Apple is the operating system for Mac computers, macOS Sierra. Mac OS supports Siri for the first time. With it, users of the "desktop" can search for information, documents, change the system settings of the computer.

On Mac with macOS Sierra, the Apple Pay payment system also appeared: the user will be able to make purchases via the Internet almost in one click on sites that are synchronized with the service. You will need to confirm the transaction using your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Another feature that makes interacting with your Mac easier is the ability to unlock remotely. Apple Watch owners can take advantage of this feature: to enter an account without typing a password on the keyboard, the user just needs to approach the Mac with a smart watch on their wrist.

Operating system for smart watches watchOS 3

In the third generation of the OS for the Apple Watch, the company promises to solve one of the main problems of the device - low download speeds - through a new automatic background app update feature.

Also, the device will get easier navigation: using the side button, users will be able to scroll through the list of applications installed on the watch, and by moving a finger across the screen from the bottom up - by analogy with the iPhone - put the Apple Watch into silent or airplane mode.

Other new watchOS features include the Scribble feature, which allows users to reply to messages without typing or speaking, but by drawing characters on the watch screen. So far, this service "understands" English and Chinese.

Holding the side button of the device now activates the SOS function - a call to the rescue service and the transfer of the user's geolocation data.

Updated operating system for tvOS set-top box

More than 6,000 apps have already been released for the Apple TV set-top box, but developers have additional opportunities in the new version of the OS for the tvOS device. So, the prefix received support for the voice assistant Siri. The user can now ask Siri to find content on a specific topic, such as "nature documentaries." In the same way, an Apple TV owner can search for content on YouTube. In the US, the voice assistant will allow you to connect to the broadcasts of TV channels such as CBS News and ESPN.

In the updated tvOS, the layout of some tabs has changed, and a new one has appeared - "Search", with which it has become easier to search for music.

Other improvements include the ability to choose a dark interface background (for those who don't like a too bright screen), automatic downloads of apps provided they're added to an iPhone or iPad, and a new Apple TV Remote app that supports touch controls.

Apple Programming School

Another novelty of WWDC is the Swift Playgrounds service for iPad tablets. With its help, the company plans to teach programming to a new generation of developers. The Apple website has a series of lessons and assignments for students who want to learn how to write code.

The Swift interface resembles the Codeacademy service, but contains more playful elements to attract younger users. So, to master the basics of programming on the iPad, Apple came up with a special keyboard with the characters most in demand for typing code. With Swift, the company introduced a new programming language open to external developers. The platform is unlikely to be useful to experienced programmers, the company stressed.

For developers, Swift became available immediately after the presentation. Regular users will be able to use the service after the iOS update in September.

Apple's presentation on September 7 pleased us with several new products, as well as a whole bunch of new features of the company's devices.

The highlight of the evening, as expected, was , which received serial number 7, two models, 3 variations of built-in memory and 5 different colors.

Apple has also updated its smartwatches to (not to be confused with the yet-to-be-released Apple Watch 2).

In addition, Apple showed a completely new device - wireless (not included) headphones and provided the old (included) Lightning connector.

For me, Apple presentations have always been divided into 2 parts: boring, during which we are told about the company's success, its role in socially important projects and show services that will work only in the USA; and interesting, during which new devices and their mind-blowing features are demonstrated. This year was no exception.

After a creepy introduction with James Cordon and a singing Tim Cook, we were told how successful Apple Music is, how many apps are being downloaded from the App Store, and even a Nintendo executive was invited to announce Super Mario Run, which will be an iOS exclusive. Then we talked about the Apple Watch. We were told for a long time and tediously that this is the best smart watch, which occupies the 2nd place in sales among all watch brands, showed the new watchOS chips, and then moved on to Apple Watch Series 2. This is where the boring part ended and more or less interesting began.

Although the new watch has not changed much in appearance, it still aroused my interest. Firstly, moisture protection, secondly, GPS, well, I really liked the new white ceramic case. Although, as it turned out, the ceramic model costs at least 116 thousand rubles. Since the Apple Watch was originally conceived with a backlog for sports, it was not surprising that Apple introduced a new line of smartwatches in collaboration with Nike. I don’t know about you, the sports line didn’t hook me. Maybe because of the design, maybe because of unnecessary features, or maybe because I don't like to run.

After a little boring digression about iPhone sales, Tim Cook moved on to the presentation of the new iPhone 7, and here, despite the record number of leaks, the public (including me) held their breath. I don’t know how to explain it, but the euphoria in the hall from the iPhone 7 could be cut with a knife. And this despite the fact that the new color for us was only the new color "Black Onyx", because the rest we already knew long before today from numerous insiders. From the stage, we were told about "10 amazing facts about the iPhone 7", which I would shorten to the phrase: "the new iPhone is a little different from the previous one, but it takes pictures, shoots video, sounds and works better than anything you've seen before." In fact, this phrase can describe any presentation of the new iPhone.

Further, Apple hinted that the audio jack has no place in a modern smartphone and introduced EarPods with Lightning, an adapter from Lightning to 3.5 and wireless AirPods, which the company is going to sell for $159 (13,000 rubles). The latter uses the new W1 processor, which marked the beginning of a whole line of Beats wireless headphones.

Traditionally, the presentation ended with a performance by the musicians. This time, Sia was on stage, who presented a new video for the song The Greatest a couple of days ago. With the same song, she came to the Apple presentation in a shocking costume and a child dancer who performed very strange (but incredibly fashionable now) dances. I chose not to watch this part, since the random movements of the children turned me away from myself even when watching the clip.

Well, after that, that’s it, the journalists were launched into the “tactile room”, where you can touch all the new items, and they said goodbye to online viewers until the next time.

Summing up what happened, I noted for myself the following - I was hooked the most: “Black Onyx”, “Portrait mode in iPhone 7 Plus”, “Rejection of 3.5 mini-jack”, “Wireless AirPods” and ceramic Apple Watch Series 2. But everything else sounded like a background to me, such as “launching Apple Pay in Japan.” The icing on the cake was a video on the official Apple channel with a brief retelling of the presentation. So if you missed the presentation, watch it.

On September 7, Apple's traditional autumn presentation will take place, where top managers of the company, led by Tim Cook, will present new products. event invitation with slogan See you on the 7th, which materialized on the official website of the company, unambiguously reports that the highlight of the program will be the introduction of a new generation of Apple smartphones - the iPhone 7.

Let's summarize what is known about the future flagship today - at least at the level of rumors:

  • New models of 4.7 and 5.5 inches, which will be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, are likely.
  • A design that looks very similar to the existing iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. (An iPhone with a radical redesign and no home button is expected in 2017)
  • Larger and improved camera in iPhone 7, dual camera system in larger iPhone 7 Plus.
  • No separate 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • Pressure-sensitive Home button with technology reminiscent of 3D Touch on iPhone 6S screens.
  • The amount of storage in new models is from 32 GB to 256 GB.
  • Faster A10 processor.
  • Preinstalled iOS 10.
  • Estimated release date (in some countries) September 16 or 23.
  • Other features include water resistance, improved stereo speakers and increased battery capacity.
  • And, of course, everyone is waiting for the branded One More Thing, where Tim Cook will show something that no one expected.

In previous years, Apple followed a pattern of alternating major changes in the design of its smartphones and minor upgrades a year later. This scheme, apparently, will become a thing of the past in 2016.

It is believed that the iPhone 7 will be very similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 6S, with a few changes. All sources report that the new model (once again) will become thinner and lighter, although there is no direct need for the smartphone to “lose weight”. It would be much more interesting to make it half a millimeter thicker, but to give the space that appeared under the battery and to abandon the camera sticking out of the body, but this is unlikely to happen this time.

The arrangement of plastic inserts on the back cover will change somewhat, now they will smoothly go around the ends of the case, and not cross the cover in a straight line. For the older model, the iPhone 7 Plus, it is possible to change the appearance of the protruding camera unit, but more on that below in the text.

Rumor 2. 3.5mm jack

Some observers believe that the new iPhone model will lose the standard headphone jack, introduced back in 1979 by SONY for its landmark Walkman player, while others will not lose it. Both versions have approximately equal number of supporters and opponents, each side has its own arguments: someone believes that without a 3.5 mm jack, the iPhone will become more aesthetic and technologically advanced, someone cites as an argument a huge number of headphones in the hands of users with precisely this international standard connector.

It should be borne in mind that Apple has more than once wanted to spit on international standards, consistently cutting out from its technology everything that seemed to Jobs (and now Cook) outdated: floppy drives, optical drives, physical phone keyboards, various ports. In principle, nothing prevents Apple from making a strong-willed decision in this case, but there is no evidence for this yet. But there are rumors about stereo speakers, one of which will take the vacant place of the 3.5 mm jack on the bottom.

Rumor 3. Characteristics

Most of the leaks and rumors about the new iPhone come from China, due to the location of production facilities there. It is logical that the "exact" characteristics of the new models look like this:

Judging by the picture, Apple will introduce only two smartphones: the iPhone 7 with a diagonal of 4.7 inches and the iPhone 7 Plus with a diagonal of 5.5 inches. In both devices, the processor is A10. The RAM size of the iPhone 7 Plus will grow to 3 GB. Battery capacity will increase to 1960 mAh and 2910 mAh for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, respectively. You can also notice the parameter "water resistance" according to the IPX7 standard.

Rumor 4: New Home Button

From the very first iPhone model, its distinctive feature was a mechanical button under the screen at the bottom of the case. In a sense, it has become the hallmark of Apple smartphones, although the experience of Android devices has shown that you can do without this mechanical part.

It is believed that in the new iPhone 7, the Home button will no longer be pure mechanics, but will be made using technology. force touch, familiar to users of the latest generation MacBook 12″ models: a tiny servo motor mounted under the surface of the touchpad responds to the tactile sensation of "pressing" under the surface of the touchpad, which reacts to the force of pressing. A similar experience is familiar to iPhone 6S users when using 3D Touch technology.

Rumor 5. Color

Of course, the concept of “color” can also be attributed to design in general, but when Apple added the color “Rose Gold” to its range at one time, this caused serious debate even on non-core resources.

Now such an explosion of emotions is not expected, raspberry or turquoise will not become an addition to the existing color range, but Space Gray, judging by the rumors, will become much darker. Whether the new Space Black will be a replacement for Space Gray or an addition to the existing one, we will find out at the presentation.

Rumor 6. Camera

According to rumors, the resolution of the camera matrix in the new versions of the iPhone will remain 12 megapixels, but the iPhone 7 Plus will have a dual camera, which will bring its capabilities closer to professional ones due to the possibility of post-focusing. Indirectly, this is evidenced by the acquisition by Apple in 2015 of Linx, which has significant achievements in the field of mobile photography.

It is also believed that the lens above the 12-megapixel matrix will receive an optical image stabilization system thanks to a 2/3x optical zoom.

Rumor 7. Apple Watch 2

It is possible that the role of One More Thing on the 7th will be played by an updated smart watch from Apple. In theory, they will become a little thinner and get a faster processor. How these innovations will affect the autonomy of the watch, one can only guess.

The imminent release of watchOS 3, in which applications will finally be able to execute their own code directly on the watch, still leaves a lot of questions about using the watch without being tied to a smartphone.

On the one hand, its own GPS chip, which is predicted by the new Apple Watch model, will allow taking health monitoring to a new level, on the other hand, according to Bloomberg, Apple has faced insurmountable difficulties at this stage in the production of watches with its own GSM module and offline internet connection.

Very soon, namely on September 7, 2016, the annual presentation of Apple will take place. What to expect from her?

Judging by the latest iPhone rumors from not the latest analysts, we can expect the following:

1) Updated iPhone Color Line

The network "walks" a lot of photos and cases and SIM-trays in 5 different colors: Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, black and glossy black. Of course, no one excludes the fact that the photos may turn out to be “fake”.

2) Increasing the size of the flash drive

Let's hope that the engineers from Cupertino still refuse to release the 16 GB version, because this is already ridiculous. Expected appearance of configurations: 32GB, 128GB and 256GB. Although, frankly, even for 32 gigabytes it would not be enough.

3) Improvement of the main camera

One of the earliest rumors was a dual camera for the Plus version. Expected wide-angle shooting with optical stabilization and improved "zoom".

4) iPhone waterproof

Following the new iPhone should receive dust and moisture protection according to the IPX7 standard. Some manufacturers have already implemented these parameters in their products, but not all of them worked stably. But Apple is famous for doing better than others. And now it will not be scary, if you wish, to go to the shower with the phone, and dive to a depth of up to 1 meter.

5) "Rejection of wires"

And another "bearded" rumor was the rejection of the 3.5mm headphone jack. If you believe the photos of the new packaging for the iPhone 7 / 7 Plus, then the kit will include a lightning to 3.5 mini jack adapter. Also, the French department of Apple “blabbed” about updating the line of Beats headphones. Way to "wireless" headphones!

6) Apple Pencil and True Tone

New phones must support and, which has proven itself on the good side. We also expect the appearance of True Tone sensors, which adapt the color scheme of the display to the ambient light.

Perhaps this is all the main rumors today. We will learn everything in more detail at the presentation itself, at which the information will either be confirmed or not.

And perhaps we will see the birth of the Apple Watch 2. Let's hope for the "legendary" of the next presentation and believe that Apple has prepared something unimaginable for us.
