Restoring a cartridge's performance is a delicate process that requires not only direct hands, but also special equipment and materials.
Let's get started!
Before refilling, inspect the cartridge for cracks or any other defects.
No defect found? Feel free to move on to the next step.
Now it is important for us to understand how to get closer to the cartridge. How to disassemble it. Let's turn it right side to us.
Look, on the right we see a block of various mechanisms with gears. He is what we need. The block itself is secured with two bolts. We don't need the top bolt. We boldly unscrew the bottom!
How to remove the block? Actually - it's simple! To detach it from the main part of the cartridge, it is necessary to rip off the soldering point.
The image shows an example of prying a block. It is enough to insert a screwdriver as shown in the figure and carefully perform the action away from you. The spike will be torn off without much difficulty.
Hooray! The block has been removed. You can put it aside.
Before us lies the main part of the cartridge. The oblong roller is the transfer roller. We need to extract it.
To do this, grab the metal tip with two fingers and pull it out to the right. Everything is simple!
So one more detail appeared to our eyes - a dosing blade.
I do not recommend removing the blade. It is very capricious in this regard, there is a high degree of probability that it will not be possible to deliver just like at the factory. And this will cause toner spillage and background when printing. If you still removed the dispenser, then follow the rules for installing similar blades.
I leave the dispenser in place.
Be sure to clean it of caked toner. To do this, wipe the surface of the blade with a small piece of cloth soaked in acetone. Do this very carefully to avoid deformation.
Acetone dries in seconds, so you can safely start cleaning the old toner cartridge.
Use a vacuum cleaner or purge station to empty the old toner hopper to avoid mixing toners.
The bunker is empty! let's move on to the next step. Fill the cartridge with toner.
You need to fill up the toner in a certain dosage: no more, no less. More toner will cause the cartridge to not work properly, and less toner will reduce the number of copies. The required amount is 70 grams.
The toner is loaded.
The process of filling the toner cartridge is completed. You can start assembling.
Before installing the transfer roller, it must be cleaned of any previous toner residue.
You can clean the transfer roller different ways. The simplest and most effective is to wipe the "body" of the shaft with a cloth moistened with a small amount of alcohol. We wait a few seconds until the alcohol completely evaporates from the surface of the shaft.
Put the transfer roller in place.
Then we install the block with gears.
When installing, rotate the transfer roller gear so that the crescent-shaped axis of the shaft goes to the end, as shown in the image below.
We screw in the bolt.
After assembly, be sure to rotate the shaft to avoid misprinting.
Oh miracle! We see that toner sticks to the shaft. The toner should lay down evenly.
All! The HP CF218A (18A) cartridge is filled and ready to go.

Installing a new cartridge
Open the printer cover and take out the cartridge by the handle indicated by the arrow in the picture.
Unpack the new cartridge and place it next to the old cartridge that you previously removed from the printer.
Carefully remove the chip from the old cartridge and insert it into the new one in the same position.
Then install a new cartridge in the printer.

Step-by-step instructions for refilling HP 18A (CF218A) toner
HP CF218A requires a certain concentration and great attention to detail, so try to organize your workspace as efficiently as possible!
Step #1. Unscrew the bolts located on the side cover - 2 pcs.
Step #2. Drill through the solder joint of the gear cover to continue disassembling the cartridge. Drilling depth: 0.5-10 mm. Be careful not to damage the mechanism!
Step #3. Use a knife or metal plate to tear off the gear side cover.
Step number 4. Remove the side cover, being careful!
Step number 5. Remove the magnetic shaft.
Step number 6. Wipe the magnetic roller shell with a cleaning cloth.
Step number 7. Loosen the screws holding the doctor blade. Pay attention, on the right side - the right thread!
Step number 8. Remove the doctor blade. Clean the part of any remaining toner.
Step number 9. Turn the cartridge upside down and rotate the agitator so that all the toner spills out of the hopper.
Step number 10. There is a plastic film in the toner hopper to help mix the ink powder. You don't need to tear it off.
Step number 11. After cleaning the hopper of toner residues, fill in a new one - no more than 80 g.
Step number 12. Reassemble the cartridge in reverse order. Start with a doctor blade.
Step number 13. Install the magnetic shaft. Notice the crescent-shaped contact.
Step number 14. Install the gear cover.
Step number 15. Tighten the bolts on the side cover - 2 pcs.
Step number 16. Check all rotating elements, they should not jam.
