Windows 7 boot disk on ultraiso flash drive. Creating a bootable USB flash drive in UltraISO

Every year regular CDs or DVD discs becoming less popular, they have long been replaced by external hard drives, USB drives and memory cards. In this connection, manufacturers of laptops and computers have begun to equip their devices with built-in drives less and less.

In turn, this causes a number of problems, for example, when it is necessary to perform a Windows installation. On this account, many programs have been developed that can burn the image of Windows 7, 10 to a USB flash drive.

These include UltraISO, distributed in two versions: free and paid. Let's look at it in more detail and create our first bootable USB flash drive.

Before you start

Before you start working with the utility, you need to download it in Russian or any other language convenient for you from official website by clicking on the green Download button. In most cases it is enough free option.

I do not recommend downloading the utility from torrents, file hosting and other dubious services. Since there is a possibility of catching a virus that can not only destroy your current system, but will also be installed by default with a new ISO image ohm.

After the download is complete, run the downloaded "EXE" file and complete the installation.

Also pre-download the required ISO distribution operating system.

Create a bootable USB flash drive using UltraISO

Now that you have installed the program, run it as an administrator by right-clicking on it. This will help you avoid future problems.

Then follow the following instructions for working with UltraISO:

  1. In the top menu, click on the "File" button and select "Open". You can also use the hotkeys "Ctrl+O".
  2. Select the Windows image that you want to write to the flash drive and click "Open". Make sure it's on one of the partitions hard drive but not on a USB stick.
  3. A structure with all the files will be displayed, but by and large it is not important to us, so we move on.
  4. In the top menu, move to the "Boot" section and click "Record ...". Each version of the application may have its own translation, and therefore the names of the items may differ slightly. Be sure to consider this point and, in which case, look for similar item names.
  5. In the "Disk Drive" column, select the USB drive and click on the "Format" button.
  6. In the new window, set “FAT32” as the file system, you can leave all other options untouched and click “Start”. It should be understood that the formatting process will delete all data on the USB drive, so first save all important information in the other place.
  7. After formatting is completed, close this window.
  8. In the main window, set the recording method to "USB-HDD +", without changing all other parameters, click "Burn".
  9. Confirm the action by clicking on the "Yes" button.
  10. After that, UltraISO will start creating a bootable USB flash drive, wait for the process to finish. It usually lasts 5-30 minutes, it all depends on the speed of the drive and USB port to which it is connected.

After UltraISO finishes recording successfully Windows image, you can close the application and proceed with the installation.

By the way, some users simply extract all the files from the ISO image using an archiver and transfer them to a USB flash drive. I want to note right away that this method does not work and it will not work to boot from such a drive.

The method discussed above is universal and suitable for all versions of operating systems. Therefore, with its help, you can also burn the Windows 10 system image to a USB flash drive through the same UltraISO program.

The second way: when there is only a folder with installation files

If for some reason you do not have a boot image or CD with the operating system ready, but you do have a folder with installation Windows files, then you can create a bootable USB flash drive using them as a basis.

How to do it with using UltraISO:

After successful completion process, you can restart your computer and start installing the system.

The third way: when there is only a boot drive

And the last third option will be useful when there is an installation CD with Windows system. In this case, using UltraISO, you can make a bootable USB flash drive using it as a basis. In this case, you will not need to create a separate ISO image of this disk, which will save a lot of time.

Detailed instructions:

Upon completion of the process, you will receive a completely ready-to-use drive.

What problems can you face

Usually, the process of working with the UltraISO utility goes smoothly, but in some cases, problems and additional questions may arise. Let's take a look at the main ones.

  1. Unable to create bootable USB flash drive with Windows XP distribution. The solution is to use the WinSetupFromUSB utility or roll back the current date in the BIOS to 10 years ago. After installation, you can return the current date.
  2. The size of the USB drive has decreased or it is recognized as a CD-ROM. In this case, formatting with the ImageUSB utility, which I reviewed at the very end of the article about, will help.
  3. Some users try to burn several distributions at once, unfortunately this is not possible.
  4. The program hangs or freezes during the recording process. Most likely a problem on the side USB drive check if it works.
  5. Sometimes it becomes necessary to create a multiboot USB flash drive with a large set of utilities. In UltraISO, there is only one way to make such a drive - to write a ready-made multi-boot image. But you can't create it on your own. The WinSetupFromUSB utility can help here.

I tried to write the most detailed article, I hope that I succeeded and now you know how to use the Ultra ISO program and can independently apply it in different situations.

If you have additional questions, ask them, I will help in any way I can.

Detailed video instruction

Increasingly, USB drives are being used to install or reinstall the operating system. They are not only easy to transport, but also more functional than CDs (for example, a netbook does not have a slot for a disk).

Sometimes during the installation of new software, a driver error may occur: "The required driver for the optical drive was not found." In this case, you should connect the flash card to a different slot. Usually this problem occurs with users of new PCs equipped with 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports. The newer port is not supported by Windows 7. You can identify it by its blue color.

We will show you how to create a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive in several ways.

What do we need to create a bootable USB flash drive

To create a bootable USB flash drive, we need the following things:

  1. A disk with a recorded Windows 7 OS or its image.
  2. An empty flash drive with a size of 4 GB or more.
  3. Settings that make it possible to work with a flash card in BIOS.

In case of absence boot disk The OS can be downloaded from the Internet. Use only trusted sites.

Format flash drive

As for the memory card, it must be completely cleared. To do this, you need to use formatting. Save important files before starting this process. Formatting itself can be done both during recording boot file, and before that.

To clean the flash drive, connect the USB to the computer. In My Computer right click mouse click on the icon of the desired removable disk. Click "Format".

When specifying options, select file system NTFS. You can also change the name of the removable disk (Volume Label). Other indicators should not be changed.

The flash drive can be formatted using command line. To do this, write in it: format H: / FS: NTFS / Q / V: My_Fleshka and press Enter.

Boot selection in BIOS

To choose to boot from a flash card, enter the BIOS. This is usually done by pressing Delete or F2 .

First you need to make sure that the USB controller is turned on. The status can be checked in the Integrated Peripherals tab. Opposite USB Controller and USB Controller 2.0 should be labeled Enable.

Command line

Burning a bootable Windows 7 flash drive using the command line is the easiest way that does not involve additional software downloads. However, you will need to enter a fairly large number of tasks.

Open the command line using the combination Win + R - cmd. Through Enter, enter the following tasks:

  1. diskpart. This command allows you to manage objects through the command line.
  2. list disk. After entering this command, a list of disks will appear in front of you. Determine which one is your flash drive. It is usually located after hard drives. In addition, you can recognize it by the size of the memory.
  3. Select disk#. Instead of #, write the number under which the flash drive appears.
  4. clean. Deletes all information from the selected media.
  5. Create partition primary. Creates a primary partition.
  6. Select partition 1. Select the created partition for further work with it.
  7. active. Enable section.
  8. Format fs=NTFS . This command will format the flash drive in the required system.
  9. assign. Will be created new disk. If necessary, it can be assigned a letter by adding letter=N.
  10. exit.
  11. Next, just transfer the OS files to removable media and you can get to work.

This method is complicated only by a large number of commands. You may have noticed that the process of formatting the flash drive is included in the description of the steps. If you have done this beforehand, just omit these items.

Note that the files that you transfer to a USB flash drive must be unpacked. The program will not work if you just transfer the .iso file.

Thank you for your attention!

It's no secret that optical drives in the form of CDs or DVD discs are losing ground in terms of their popularity due to the availability of inexpensive USB flash drives impressive capacity and high-speed Internet access. A significant part of new computers, laptops, netbooks… do not even come with the appropriate drives. Today we will look at how to install windows 7 from flash drive. In other words, we are interested in the process of creating bootable flash drive.

So, there are several programs for recording a distribution Windows 7 on a flash drive, but we will not use specialized software, but will use the usual utility for working with ISO images - " UltraISO". Surely you have already had to create, edit and burn ISO's - this program can do all this and is a universal tool for working with disk images. The program interface is very simple, reminiscent of a "double explorer", in one part of which you navigate through the files and folders of your computer or laptop, and the second part displays the structure and contents of the folders of the opened or created disk image. Everything is intuitive, there is a Russian version of the program, so you should not have any problems using it.

How to burn a Windows 7 image to a USB flash drive:

1. Download, install and run UltraISO. Insert the USB flash drive into the computer.

2. We find the corresponding ISO image with the explorer, right-click on it and select " To open with >>> UltraISO". You can find the image through the menu " File >>> Open"From UltraISO itself - there is no difference.

3. In the menu of the utility used, select the item " Burn hard disk image” from the top menu “”.

4. In the window that appears, select the flash drive to which you want to burn Windows 7 image(this is done in the drop-down list "Disk Drive"). Recording method, select "USB-HDD +" (although it should initially be like this). Those who wish can check the “Check” box so that after recording, the procedure for comparing the distribution package recorded on the bootable USB flash drive and the original ISO file is initiated.

5. It remains only to press the button " burn» to get a bootable flash drive.

That's actually all - the procedure is "simple to disgrace." On the above screenshots see the whole process. It is worth doing this once and in the future questions about writing a Windows 7 image to a USB flash drive you should not have. It should only be noted that before recording the distribution kit, all available on USB Flash Drive information will be destroyed.

Further installing windows 7 from a bootable flash drive goes according to the usual scenario, with the only difference that in the BIOS you need to select flash drive as the primary boot device. There is, perhaps, nothing more to add - success in high-speed Windows installation 7 (high speed compared to DVD).
