Avast is not deleted. How to uninstall Avast? The most detailed instruction! Alternative means to completely uninstall Avast

Hello everyone Let's talk today about Avast antivirus, or rather about how to remove it. Today I will consider free version Avast Free Antivirus, for which you do not need to pay, well, that is, this free antivirus, however, this does not save him from the fact that many users want to delete him. But why do they want to remove it? Well, to be honest, I don’t know, but I dare to assume that due to the fact that Avast loads the computer, or maybe it blocks sites, I don’t know guys. But the fact is a fact: often users on the Internet are looking for how to remove Avast from a computer completely.

Today I will tell you how not only to completely remove Avast Free Antivirus from your computer, but also how to remove its remnants, that is, I will show you how to scan the computer for remnants, any garbage left from Avast. So what I will do, I say as it is. I have Windows 7, I installed Avast Free Antivirus there, that is, I downloaded it, installed it, everything is as usual. And now we will remove it. If you do everything the way I will write, then everything will work out for you and you can normally remove Avast Free Antivirus from your computer completely. Here we go?

By the way, well, I think that you already know, but along with the Avast antivirus, the Avast browser appeared on my computer, it's called Avast SafeZone Browser, do you know what it is? This is such a browser, like a secure one, like you can do something in it and no one can intercept the data, like no one can hack you. Well, for example, in such a browser, you can perform some financial operations, there to pay for something, well, in short, you understand. Look, here is the Avast SafeZone Browser shortcut on the desktop:

So, okay, something I'm talking here is not quite about what you need! We begin to remove Avast. I’ll just write a little more information, Avast itself works under processes such as avastui.exe and AvastSvc.exe, here they are in the task manager:

As you can see, the processor is not loaded by these processes, which is good. The processes themselves are launched from this folder:

C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast

So, now about the removal. So you hold down the Win + R buttons, then you will see the Run window, you write the following command there:

Click OK, then the Programs and Features window will open, here you will have a list of all those programs that are on your computer. Here in the list you need to find Avast Free Antivirus, but usually this program comes first, well, the letter A is the first in the alphabet. Well, in short, they found a program, clicked on it right click and then choose Delete:

Then you will see a large Avast window where you can update your antivirus, fix it, change it, well, in short, this .. And you can also activate a free subscription for a year, for fun! But if you are not interested in this and you still want to remove Avast, then click the Delete button here:

Then there will be such a security window from Avast, well, this is a type of check, but do you want to remove the antivirus? This check is just like what if this virus wants to remove the antivirus, there are such jokes too! Well, in short, in this window you click Yes:

The removal process will begin:

See below, there is another question, well, like why are you removing the antivirus? You can answer this question, or you can not answer anything, I didn’t answer anything there. If you have HDD is on the computer, then Avast can be deleted for about three minutes, but I have an SSD and therefore Avast deleted in a few seconds:

I pointed the arrow at the button Restart the computer because I do not advise postponing this matter, it is better to restart it right away! The fact is that there are some files, well, there are libraries and other dregs, so in order for all this to be deleted, you need to reboot. It will be deleted even before the Windows kernel is loaded, well, something like this, that is, it will be deleted even while Windows has not fully woken up, in short, something like this! Therefore, it is better to reboot immediately

In general, they rebooted and Avast Free Antivirus was removed from the computer, but is it completely? Hmm, this question remains to be seen

So, here I want to tell you something else, it may be that Avast Free Antivirus will be stupid and will not want to be deleted. What to do in this case? Well, I don't even know what to say. There is such a joke that it is better to delete it correctly, because if you delete it forcibly, then there may be jambs in the form of abandoned Avast drivers. Therefore, I advise you to visit this page, this is the official website of Avast:

This page has clear instructions on how to uninstall Avast using their avastclear utility, I advise you to use this utility if Avast does not want to be deleted normally. Just in case, I will also tell you that you can try to remove it with the help of a remover Revo Uninstaller, only here you know what, it’s better to make a restore point before deleting, well, just in case. I wrote about the Revo Uninstaller remover here, so you can take a look, by the way, the remover not only removes, but also searches for and removes garbage in the system, well, the garbage that remained after the removal of the program.

So, well, now let's get back to the things that need to be done after the removal of Avast. These cases, this is the removal of residues. So, we have two types of leftovers, these are file garbage and garbage in the registry, let's start with the first one. We need to open the system drive where Windows is installed. So I will show universal way how to open the system disk so that it is clear to absolutely everyone, although I understand that many people already know how to do this, but still. So guys, hold down the Win + R buttons, then write the following command:

Click OK, then you will see a window where all your disks will be, here you need to select the system disk. Usually it goes under the letter C, and also has such a flag, well, there is a Windows flag or something, in short, it differs from other disks. I have only one disk, but it also has such a flag, here it is shorter:

In general, we went to the system disk. Great, let's look for trash cans! But there is still such a joke that some files may not want to be deleted, so just in case, I inform you that you may need the Unlocker utility, this free utility and she is a master at deleting undeletable files and folders. I wrote about the Unlocker utility itself here, I already have this utility installed. So now in the upper right corner of the window system disk, then there will be a search field, here you need to write the word avast, that is, write here:

Then we wait for the results, that is, we wait until all files and folders are found that contain the word avast in their names. But I will say that you need to look for traces only after you have removed Avast, but not just removed, but removed CORRECTLY, do you understand what the joke is? Well, in short, guys, I already found rubbish like this here, see:

Well, it's funny, I deleted Avast, but how many folders are left after it, of course the guys need to clean it, we don't need such jokes! What to do, how to delete? And here's how, you need to first select all the files and folders, well, or not select, you can try to delete one at a time, if there is not a lot of garbage. Well, I selected all the folders and files, then I right-click on this all and select the Delete item there:

Then there will be such a window, then click Yes:

Then you will see such a window, here you need to click the Continue button:

Well, kapets, of course, but another window will appear, well, maybe it won’t appear for you, but here I have it, in this window you need to check the box below and click the Yes button:

Then another window will appear, or rather, if it appears, then you also need to check the box below and click the Skip button:

Apparently you can’t just take and remove the remnants of Avast. Then I had another window, there I also checked the box below and clicked the Skip button:

Everything, then the windows no longer popped up, but not all the trash was removed! Here you need to press the F5 button so that the search is updated, because here those files that you actually already deleted may be displayed, I don’t know about you, but I have such a glitch. Well, we pressed F5, everything was updated, and now we will delete it using the Unlocker utility, right-click on all files and select the Unlocker item there (I remind you that I already have this utility installed):

Then such a security window popped up, then click Yes:

But you may not have this window if you have such security turned off! But damn, here I was waiting for a bummer. In short, I've pressed the Yes button and the effect is exactly zero! Do you know why? All because of these files:

Well, they are still down there! I didn’t select them, but only selected the folders, then right-clicked on them again, selected the Unlocker item, and again there was zero effect, well, fun, I thought! Then I started to do what I advise you now, which is to delete files and folders one by one. I clicked on the first folder, selected the Unlocker item, security popped up, clicked Yes there, then such a window appeared, here you need to select Delete from the menu on the left and press the OK button:

Deletion started:

Then such a window popped up, which means that everything went fine:

After I deleted one folder, I pressed the F5 button to refresh the search. Well, I tried to delete it again using Unlocker, it also happened. In short, guys, this security window waved me a little, so I turned it off, just when it popped up again, I clicked here:

Then I lowered the slider to the very bottom:

I pressed OK and that's it, the window didn't bother me anymore. Well, I wrote this just in case, suddenly the window will get you, now you will know how to turn it off. The guys had to sweat a little while I deleted it all, but I still managed to delete it, and then, when I tried to search for the word avast again, nothing was found:

But I succeeded because I deleted one file at a time, for some reason I couldn’t delete two at once, I don’t know what kind of joke this is. In short, such things, I succeeded, which means you will succeed, believe me

You are probably wondering, well, everything already or something else? No, guys, I can’t please you yet, because there is still garbage in the registry, it also needs to be deleted, but it’s a little easier there .. So you hold down the Win + R buttons again, then write the following command:

The Registry Editor window will appear, the following window will appear:

It is in this window that we will look for garbage, but how? Everything is simple here, don't worry, hold down the Ctrl + F buttons, then write avast in the search field and click the Find Next button:

The search will start. Now look carefully, the registry will search for everything that has the word avast in its name, these can be registry keys and keys. Anything that is found will be found one at a time and it will be highlighted. That is, something was found, it was highlighted, the search stopped, you right-clicked on what was found, selected Delete, then pressed the F3 button to continue the search. Well, the algorithm is approximately clear? I hope it's understandable. Well, look, for example, some folder (that is, a partition) was found, it's called 00avast, it's a trash can, so we delete it, right-click and select Delete:

Then a window pops up, click here Yes:

And that's it, the folder has been deleted. This is how you need to do with everything, both junk folders and junk keys. Everything is the same with the keys, right-click, select Delete:

Here's another joke, in the name of the key there may not be anything at all that refers to Avast .. Well, often the key can be called simply Default, but if you look at the Value column, there you will see an entry that just applies to Avast:

By the way, that's it, if you delete this key by Default, it will reappear, that's why it is Default. But in the Value field it will already be empty. I'm just now thinking, maybe keys with the name Default should be skipped altogether? Well, I don’t know, but personally I delete everything that has the word avast in the name, because I care about the cleanliness of Windows, so to speak. Here is such a joke

So guys, it’s clear with the registry, yes, what you need to look for, then to continue the search you need to press the F3 button, then delete the garbage found again and so on until such a window appears:

Well, that's all the guys on it, so you uninstalled this Avast Free Antivirus, congratulations (well, if you actually uninstalled it). What else can I say, except that the guys should clean the computer with the CClenaer utility, so to speak, it will clean the entire computer of garbage, how to use it, I wrote about it here. All the guys, that's all, I hope that everything was clear to you here, but if something is wrong, then you're sorry. Good luck to you

The process of removing any antivirus (not just Avast) from the operating Windows systems has some specificity. Of course, you can uninstall this or that anti-virus product using the standard tools of the operating system, but in some cases this method of removal is not entirely suitable, since it does not completely remove the antivirus and the “tails” of the program remain in the system.

As a rule, the traditional method of removal using the operating system or using programs specially designed for this is more than enough. Therefore, we will briefly consider it here.

In order to remove the antivirus, consider the example of avast! Free Antivirus, using the regular features of Windows, you must follow the instructions below.

Go to "Panel" Windows controls", where we are interested in the "Programs and Features" section. Depending on the version and edition of your operating system Microsoft Windows There are several ways to get to this section.

For Windows 7 and Vista users. Go to the "Start" menu, then select "Control Panel".

In the control panel, click "Uninstall a program", as in the screenshot.

For Windows 8 and 8.1 users, to access this menu, simply move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner and right-click, select "Programs and Features" in the context menu that opens.

In the list, select avast! Free Antivirus and click "Uninstall\Change".

This window will appear.

Click "Remove avast!".

We restart the computer.

Avast Antivirus! Free Antivirus is removed from the computer, but... not completely.

With such a removal in the system Windows registry there are still traces (records) that can, for example, become an obstacle to installing another antivirus after Avast. In particular, they can be accepted by the installation wizard (new security antivirus solution), as a copy of the full-fledged Avast antivirus installed in the system, although, in fact, it is no longer there. As a result, the installation will be interrupted (or impossible) due to the presence of incompatible software on the system.

Removing "without tails" will also be needed if, for example, you have updated your Avast antivirus to new version, and due to an error (bug) in it, your browser has stopped working, or you cannot get to your favorite sites or go to your VKontakte or Odnoklassniki page, or there are other problems. Then you will need to reinstall Avast antivirus or roll back to old version. In this case, it will also be necessary to carefully remove the antivirus from the system.

To completely remove Avast antivirus, you need to use the proprietary utility from the developer, which you can download from the Avast official website (or just click here).

Before running this utility (avastclear.exe), you need to reboot your operating system and switch to "safe mode" (Safe Mode). For Windows startup XP, Vista, Windows 7 safe mode you need to restart the PC, then (before the operating system starts) we often press the key - F8, and we get to the "Additional boot options" menu, where we select boot in safe mode. How to enter safe mode Windows users 8 and 8.1 is possible.

However, if you try to run the avast removal tool (avastclear.exe) immediately after downloading, you will see this message, just click "Yes", after which the system will automatically restart in safe mode.

After the reboot, the avast removal utility will start automatically, but if this does not happen, then run it yourself. The same window as in the screenshot will appear. Here it is necessary to indicate software, which needs to be deleted, so in the drop-down menu (marked with a red arrow in the screenshot), select: avast! Free/Pro/ internet security/Premier.

The second arrow marks the folder (by default) where you have Avast antivirus installed. If nothing was changed during the installation of the antivirus, then we leave it as it is, otherwise we must indicate our path to the folder with the program. Click "Delete".

It remains to restart the computer, after which all Avast antivirus components will be permanently removed from hard drive computer.

Antivirus protection is an eternal headache for the user. The choice of programs on this market is quite large and everyone wants to find optimal solution for your computer. During the search, you have to install programs different manufacturers and not all of them then want to leave the PC voluntarily, perceiving the user's actions as a threat to their existence. In this article, we will tell you how to completely uninstall Avast from Windows 8.

To remove programs in all versions of Microsoft operating systems, a special component of the control panel is used. Antivirus is no better than the rest of the software, so first of all we will use the built-in OS tools.

  1. We call the menu "Power User" and select the marked item.
  1. The standard tool will open. uninstall Windows with a list of programs installed on the computer. Select Avast Free Antivirus by highlighting it with the mouse. A labeled “Uninstall” button will then appear above the list of software. Right-clicking on the highlighted program will bring up a small context menu from two points. It can also be used to start the uninstallation procedure.
  1. As a result of our actions, a configuration window will open. In the lower right corner, press the marked button, confirming your desire to get rid of this product.
  1. The computer screen will dim and a small window with two buttons will appear. Click "Yes" to turn it off and return the desktop to normal.

By the way, it is thanks to such built-in protection that it is impossible to perform a "silent" removal of the program from the computer via the command line.

  1. The uninstallation procedure starts, after which we will be asked to take a survey. You can do this in the area marked with a question mark. Since we have nothing to wish the developers, we immediately click on the highlighted button.

The computer will restart and the OS will automatically activate Windows Defender.

Cleaning up the system

Removing the program is not entirely clean. The uninstaller leaves a significant amount of “tails” on the laptop that need to be removed manually.

  1. Open the "Explorer" and expand the top command menu. Go to the "View" tab. We put a tick in the box marked with the number "3". We should see the "ProgramData" folder.
  1. We open it and see the directory that the uninstall utility of the antivirus forgot to remove. Its size is small, but information about the date of installation and the type of license is stored inside. We delete it using the icon on the command bar or the context menu.
  1. Confirm your decision by clicking the "Continue" button. The system will issue a similar request when emptying the basket.
  1. Let's open the registry editor to clean up the remnants there too. To do this, in the text field of the "Run" window, enter the launch command "regedit".
  1. In the area with registry branches, select "Computer". Press Ctrl + F to open the internal search. In the text box, type "avast" and click the "Search" button.
  1. The search is performed throughout the registry tree. For each line found, we call the context menu and delete it. We continue the search by pressing the F3 button until we find all occurrences.

In total, you will have to delete a dozen and a half values. After completing this operation, there will be no traces of the presence of an antivirus on the laptop.

Avast Removal Tool

The developers themselves recommend using complete removal your product a specially created utility. On the official website, a separate page is devoted to this problem, from which you can download Avast Clear.

  1. We place the avastclear.exe file on the desktop. We call the context menu on its icon to run it with elevated rights.
  1. The utility will determine that the OS is operating in normal mode and offer to switch to safe mode.
  1. Once again, we agree to the proposal. Click "Yes" to send the PC to reboot.
  1. It is better for developers to know where the program is installed. The directories can be left unchanged if they were not changed during the installation phase. Check the version and click the "Delete" button.
  1. The removal procedure is the same as standard means OS. Upon completion, we will be prompted to restart the PC again to return to normal mode.

The utility does not remove the directory located in "ProgarmData" and "tails" in the registry. So use it to uninstall antivirus program it is advisable if it is not removed by system means.

Third party software

Users have an extremely strong faith in "wonderful" utilities that are independently capable of putting things in order in the system. This explains the popularity of programs such as CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller. Consider how the latter will cope with the removal of Avast.

  1. Launch Revo Uninstaller. Select the antivirus program in the general list and click the "Delete" button.
  1. We receive instructions on how to work with the utility.
  1. At the same time, the removal of the antivirus with its own uninstaller starts. Following the recommendations, select a delayed reboot. Let's start scanning.
  1. We get a list of temporarily abandoned files and independently activate the restart of the PC.

The launched OS will meet us with a full basket. Revo put all the antivirus program files there instead of deleting them. In the process of emptying the trash, several times we will confirm the presence of administrative rights and the desire to get rid of the "garbage".

After opening the “Explorer” after that, we will make sure that the Avast directory in ProgramData remains in place. The search registry editor will give us a dozen more “tails”. As a result, we still work with our hands, cleaning up not only after the antivirus, but also after the cleaning utility.

Finally

The considered methods will allow you to completely remove the antivirus from the PC and clean up the traces of its installation. At the same time, standard operating system tools allow you to do this with less time.

Video instruction

Visualize the process Avast removal from a computer running Windows 8.1, you can use the thematic videos below.

To remove AVAST (Free, Pro, Internet Security), as well as for other anti-virus programs, using the standard Windows procedure is not enough. The thing is that the software that ensures PC security is more firmly "fixed" in the file system and registry. It also actively uses software self-preservation mechanisms.

Many users who do not know this feature often encounter characteristic difficulties when trying to uninstall Avast:

  • incorrectly perform uninstallation (part of the kernel remains in the OC, cluttering up system partition);
  • cannot be deleted at all (attempts to send to the trash are regarded by the antivirus as malicious third-party interference).

Fortunately, there are ways to bypass such problems. The instructions below will tell you in detail how to uninstall Avast, based on the specific situation and the level of your user skills.

Preparing for the removal procedure

Regardless of which uninstallation method will be used, the first step is to disable the antivirus self-defense module. Quite often, it is he who hinders the efforts of the user.

  1. Click in the tray (lower right corner of the desktop) the Avast icon.
  2. Select "Settings" from the main menu (gear icon).
  3. In the submenu that appears, click "Troubleshooting".
  4. In the list of settings, uncheck the box next to "Enable self-defense module ...".

After disabling the option, the antivirus will warn of a potential threat to the security of the PC. But do not worry - in this situation, this is the right step.

Click "YES" and confirm your intentions.

METHOD # 1: uninstalling the antivirus with the Avastclear utility

It should be noted that this method is the most acceptable and, most importantly, reliable. It does not require special knowledge and skills from the owner of the computer regarding the use of the OS. Avastclear is built by developers antivirus Avast and you can trust her 100%. 1. Go to the official website of AVAST (avast.ru).

2. Hover over the "Support" section and click "Downloads".

3. On the page that opens, select the item "Removal tool ...".

4. Find the instructions at the bottom. Click on the link "avastclear.exe", located in its first paragraph.

5. Wait for the download to complete on the PC and run the utility (as administrator).

7. After restarting the system, in the drop-down menu of the utility, select the name of the product that is installed (for example, avast! Free) and activate the "Uninstall" command.

8. Avastclear will display the progress of the procedure on its panel, after which it will ask for confirmation to restart. Click Yes.

If all the steps were performed correctly, then Avast antivirus will not leave “not a trace or stains”!

METHOD # 2: uninstalling the antivirus using regular Windows tools

This option requires more skill and effort from the user. But nevertheless, it helps out a lot when you don’t have it at hand. special programs to delete files and folders. And also, when it is not possible to download the Avastclear utility and use it accordingly.

Warning! If you have never worked with the registry and file system OC, it is better to seek help from a PC repair and tuning specialist. Otherwise, instead of one problem, two or three may appear. And then the machine will completely lose its working capacity.

1. Turn off the module self-defense avast. Go to the start menu and open the control panel.

2. Select the "Uninstall a program" option.

3. Find the antivirus in the list of programs that appears, select its PC mouse, and then click the "Delete" option in the top menu.

4. Click "Start" again, type "regedit" in the line. Click the shortcut that appears in the "Programs" list with the same name. This is a registry editor: it will help to remove from the computer all entries and keys related to Avast remaining after uninstallation.

5. In the editor's "Edit" submenu, click "Find...".

6. Write in the "Find:" column the word "avast" (required in Latin!) And click the "Find Next" button.

7. Analyze the search result and delete the entries containing the name of the antivirus in their name (for example, section 00avast).

8. Continue searching (option "Edit" >> "Find next"). All remaining keys must be completely removed.

Attention! If an anti-virus program installer is stored on the PC hard drive, it will also be displayed in the registry (the directory where it is located will be indicated). Leave this entry in the editor as is. To delete a file, use standard function Windows from the context menu.

9. Open the OC explorer, type "avast" in the search bar, press the "ENTER" key.

10. Select the antivirus files found by the system on the mouse LC, open the menu and click "Delete".

Restart your PC and enjoy the absence of Avast!

METHOD # 3: uninstalling the antivirus with the Revo Uninstaller Pro utility

Universal solution: suitable for both experienced and novice users. The only condition is the presence of the utility on the PC hard drive.

1. Run Revo Uninstaller, find Avast in the list of programs.
2. Hover over the antivirus icon, click the PC mouse and select the "Uninstall" command.
3. The "native" uninstaller of the program is activated. Use it by clicking "Continue".
4. At the end of the uninstallation, select the "Restart later" command.
5. Go to the Revo Uninstaller window, set the scan type to "Advanced" and click the "Scan" button.

6. Mark all the folders and files found by the utility (“Select All”), click “Delete”, and then “Finish”. Perform similar actions with the identified registry entries.

After the uninstall procedure, empty the Recycle Bin and restart Windows!

The second and third methods can be used when uninstalling other antivirus products. The principle and tasks are similar - complete cleaning OC.

Good luck in mastering the PC, dear reader!
