Introduction

The MEIZU Pro 7 smartphone is the junior version of the flagship Pro 7 Plus device. Despite the similar design, the presence of the same additional screens and cameras, the devices still differ in chipsets, diagonal and resolution of displays, type and amount of internal memory, RAM and, of course, dimensions. In my subjective opinion, the solution is somewhat strange: it was easier and more efficient to do it the way SONY did it with the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact models. Let me remind you that gadgets there globally differ only in case dimensions and screen resolution.

Things in the Chinese company are apparently going very well, so it allows itself to set high prices for some devices. In particular, on Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. The first gadget will cost you 36,000 rubles, and the second - 45,000 rubles (RRC). However, if you try, you can find new items for exactly 10,000 rubles cheaper, moreover, from official supplies.

In this material, we are only talking about the differences between Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus.

Design, dimensions, controls

If we talk about which of the two smartphones is more convenient to use, then, of course, the Pro 7 with its compact dimensions will take the first place. The gadget fits perfectly in the hand due to the small width of 70 mm, and it has become more comfortable to get the upper border of the screen due to the height of 147 mm. The thickness relative to the Pro 7 Plus remains the same - 7.3 mm.

The front panel is protected by 2.5D glass, while the rest of the body is made of durable metal. The antennas were placed along the edge of the upper and lower ends. This decision allowed not only to use an all-metal case, but also to give the back panel an unusual appearance. The glass has an oleophobic coating, the quality is above average.

On sale MEIZU Pro 7 is available in three colors: gold (rear panel, and the “face” is white), black and red (“face” is black). Of course, a smartphone in red looks the most advantageous - I advise you to take a closer look at this particular color: now black and white devices reign on the market, which is sad.

To the touch, the back cover is rough, does not slip out of the hands. During testing, not a single scratch appeared - a strong baby. By the way, the assembly is also good. Not like mine Apple iPhone 8 Plus, which has already begun to play the lower part of the front panel.

On the front of MEIZU Pro 7 are sensors, a camera, an indicator of missed events, and a speaker. The speaker is loud, it sounds clear, the timbre is closer to low frequencies.

Below is a standard mechanical button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Works on touches "Back".

At the bottom there is a speakerphone, a Type-C connector, a microphone and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. And on the top - a lone additional microphone.

The power button and the volume rocker are on the right, on the left is a metal slot for two nano SIM cards. There was no place for a memory card - nobody needs it, right? ..

In my subjective opinion, the display is almost useless, at least until the software update, where all notifications with detailed information should appear.

Display

MEIZU Pro 7 uses a 5.2-inch screen. The physical size of the Pro 7 display is 70.5x125 mm, the bezel is 16 mm at the top, 16.5 at the bottom, and about 3 mm on the right and left. There is an anti-reflective coating.

The display resolution of MEIZU Pro 7 is FullHD, that is, 1080x1920 pixels, the density is 423 pixels per inch. The matrix is manufactured by Samsung - SuperAMOLED. The so-called Pentile effect is completely invisible, the density decides!

Maximum brightness white color- 340 cd / m2 (official data - 350). Contrast - 10,000:1.

The white line is the goal we are trying to achieve. The yellow line is the actual screen data. You can see that we are almost directly above the target curve at values from 0 to 100%. This means that at each value the image is slightly overexposed. The yellow line is actually the average amount of red, green and blue.

The average gamma value is ideal - 2.18.

Judging by the level chart, blue is in excess, and red is in short supply.

The temperature doesn't jump.

Based on the chart, the resulting data is MUCH larger than the sRGB triangle, especially in the green area.

Almost all gray points are located outside the DeltaE=10 radius, which indicates that other shades will be present in gray colors.

Viewing angles are maximum, under certain tilts of the screen the picture is slightly green.

In the settings, you can choose one of four modes: adaptive, standard, photo and full color. I tested the first mode.

Various screen modes

Battery

This model uses a 3000 mAh non-removable battery (lithium polymer). The manufacturer does not give any official figures.

The smartphone quietly "lives" full daylight hours (for winter it is more relevant to write "until 20 - 22 hours") with all services and applications turned on.

If we test only video playback (HD, maximum brightness), then the smartphone sits down after 15 hours. This is a very good indicator. For example, Pro 7 Plus "twists" the same video for about 13 hours. The Pro 7 toys are also doing well - more than 7 hours.

In the kit you will find fast charging, so MEIZU Pro 7 will get 100% charge in about an hour and a little.

Communication options

Here, the situation is approximately the same as with the Pro 7 Plus: support for LTE Cat 6 Band 1/3/5/7/20, two SIM cards. In this case, Wi-Fi does not “see” the AC standard, and there is no BDS in navigation. The NFC chip is still missing. Signal reception is stable, no problems noticed. The sensitivity is great.

Memory

RAM in the Pro 7 model is 4 GB LPDDR4 with optimized power consumption. Average speed - 4500 MB / s. Built-in memory is only 64 GB, and you can not put a memory card here. The read speed is 196 MB / s, and the write speed is 228 MB / s. It should be noted that the speed of the built-in memory of eMMC Pro 7 is higher than the speed of UFS memory in Pro 7 Plus. Or an application glitch, or a "crooked" sample of the Pro 7 Plus.

cameras

In the introduction, I wrote that in this material I will only talk about the differences between Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. The cameras are exactly the same, so I send you to Review Pro 7 Plus to the "Cameras" section.

Performance

The Pro 7 smartphone is equipped with not the newest and not the fastest MediaTek Helio P25 chipset. However, it is based on 16 nm technology with FinFET transistors, 8 cores, and clock frequency each up to 2.5 GHz. The ARM Mali-T880 is responsible for the graphics. In addition, it is worth noting that the Pro 7 uses Imagiq technology for processing photos and videos. It allows you to make the video more stable (digital "stub"), reduce noise, improve the quality of the final result.

In the Antutu test, the smartphone scores 65,000 points, which is quite normal. This is not a record at all, but the processor easily launches almost all toys. Glitches, brakes and microlags are absent.

From point of view software everything is calm here: Google Android version 7, Flyme 6.1.3.0G shell. I don't really like the corporate UI because of the too simple design and the small number of interesting chips. It seems to me that it is easier to abandon Flyme in favor of "bare" Android, given that you still do not get out of the box Google services, because first you need to find them in the local AppStore, and then install them. By the way, if you go to Google Play- Settings, then in the "Device certification" section it will say "Not certified".

Multimedia

The Pro 7's music output speaker is slightly quieter than the Pro 7 Plus' speaker. Plus, he's not that bassist. As for the musical component, traditionally MEIZU offers separate DACs in its top devices. This time it's a 32-bit Cirrus Logic CS43130 with a built-in headphone amplifier. It provides:

  • Output power up to 30 mW per channel into 32 ohms or up to 5 mW per channel into 600 ohms!
  • Dynamic range 130 dB
  • THD + noise -108
  • Sampling frequency 384 kHz

The sound is relatively loud, at least the big "ears" should swing. Good quality. However, I can't find anything out of the ordinary.

Conclusion

As always, there are no complaints about the quality of workmanship: a solid metal smartphone with a comfortable grip and pleasant materials are the main advantages of the Pro 7.

The pluses also include the SuperAMOLED matrix, cameras, speed and nimble interface, music chip.

If we talk about the shortcomings, then there are almost none, but only if you buy a MEIZU Pro 7 smartphone for 27,000 - 30,000 rubles. Otherwise, we should talk about the lack of NFC, optical stabilization in the camera, a simple f / 2.0 aperture, not the best location of the additional screen and its functionality.

Overall, though, the Pro 7 is a good phone for AMOLED and dual camera enthusiasts.

Competitors:

  • Honor 9. The cost starts from 22,000 rubles. Inside 4/64 GB of memory, two cameras, a 3200 mAh battery and 8 cores from Huawei;
  • Xiaomi Mi6. Price - 30,000 rubles. Cool gadget, almost out of competition;
  • ASUS ZenFone 4 . It costs about 30,000 rubles. Two cameras - "wide" and normal. Not quite suitable due to the diagonal of the screen;
  • Huawei P10. You can find from 30,000 rubles. Compact and thin smartphone with a cool camera.

I could give a few more, but I think these are enough.

At a price of about 27,000 rubles, MEIZU Pro 7 is interesting, but at a higher cost over the purchase this device you need to think carefully.

Meizu Pro 7 review

Meizu has been fueling the excitement around the new flagship of 2017 Meizu Pro 7 for a long time: insiders, renders, spy photos appeared on the Internet. And now it happened: in China, the long-awaited smartphone was presented, which turned out to be really very worthy.

Critics, who got their hands on engineering samples and presentation models, unanimously praised the dual-display phone, and this is a rarity. But, of course, smartphone chips are not limited to the presence of a second screen.

MAIN FEATURES OF THE SMARTPHONE

5

First: Auxiliary AMOLED display on the back

Second: First device powered by the new flagship MTK processor

Third: Dual rear camera that shoots like a DSLR

Fourth: Flyme 6 based on Android Nougat OS

Fifth: Large battery with fast charging function

Contents of delivery

The device is packaged in a spectacular black plastic case with a matte base and a glossy lid. The device itself is hidden in a separate box made of thick black laminated cardboard. In addition to the phone, inside there is a synchronization cable, a charger and a transparent case for the body - a kind of compliment from the manufacturer. At the first glance at the packaging, you get the feeling that we are talking about a very difficult smartphone that deserves at least careful study.

Design

Recently, Meizu designers have often been accused of laziness and unwillingness to fundamentally change something in the design. Well, they were rehabilitated a little more than completely.

Firstly, the company listened to the numerous wishes of users to add a top black color to the palette. Meizu Pro 7 comes in brushed aluminum cases in black, red and gold. Moreover, both red and gold Meizu differ from the color palette of competitors.

The shape of the hull has changed: the composite dividers, under which the antennas are hidden, are pressed as close as possible to the ends, the corners have acquired more energetic outlines. The main element of the rear panel is a glass block, which houses a double SONY camera and a 1.9-inch AMOLED display. Unusual, but very effective. Some questions are raised by the location of the auxiliary display: on the side, not in the center, but this also works for recognition, and is also ideal for right-handers.

The entire front panel is covered with a protective convex 2.5D glass, under which a standard set of sensors, a speaker and a front camera are hidden. Below is the main display of 5.2 inches, completes the composition of the touch-mechanical button mTouch. 1/7 Quality metal case

On the right side, as usual for Meizu phones, there are buttons for locking the screen and volume, on the left is a tray for nanoSIM cards. There is no support for memory cards. "Jack" 3.5 mm and USB-C port on the bottom edge are located next to the main microphone and multimedia speaker, for which special thanks to the manufacturer, because it is convenient.

Display

If we compare the screen with last year's flagship Pro 6, then it is almost impossible to find any differences - this is a solid 5.2-inch superAMOLED matrix with FullHD resolution, with the same bright, clear and saturated picture as in the previous model.

The auxiliary display is worthy of a separate discussion. Firstly, it is made clearly flush with the surface and does not stick out one iota. According to the characteristics, this is a 1.9-inch touchscreen AMOLED display with a resolution of 240 × 536 pixels. It can be displayed useful information(weather, reminders, alerts), use as a pedometer or a selfie preview from the main camera.

Battery

A 3000 mAh battery with support for the fast charging function will last for a full day of light and even more: in the maximum load mode, the device will last 5-6 hours, watching videos - more than 10 hours, and if you use Meizu Pro 7 in a gentle mode, then by the evening it will remain another 25? 30% charge. If the smartphone "sits down" at the most inopportune moment, then comes to the rescue proprietary technology fast charging mCharge, which will charge the device by 50% in half an hour. By the way, a charger with support for this function comes with the phone, which is nice.

Performance

Meizu approached pumping this parameter thoroughly: the heart of the smartphone is the 8-core MTK Helio P25 processor, with a frequency of up to 2.6 GHz. The real "monster" Mali-T880 MP2 is responsible for the graphics, which, in conjunction with a processor and 4 GB of RAM, will provide excellent performance for any task.

The Cirrus Logic CS43130 DAC with an integrated amplifier (designed for headphones) is the dream of any music lover. When playing music in FLAC format through HiFi-level headphones you get unsurpassed sound quality. But to fully enjoy lossless music through the built-in stereo speaker will not work - it is rather weak and lonely, which looks strange with an audio processor of this level.

Camera

Following the latest trends in the evolution of flagships, the Meizu Pro 7 has a dual main camera module from Sony - IMX386 with a resolution of 12 MP + 12 MP. There is a "newfangled" portrait mode, which allows you to take pictures with focus on a closer object while blurring the background. In general, the camera is very, very good - at any time of the day the quality of the photos is excellent, the detailing is at the level. Module front camera at 16 MP has a fixed focus and allows you to take juicy colorful selfies with excellent detail and color reproduction.

Macro

It makes sense to buy Meizu Pro 7, if only because it is, perhaps, best smartphone season 2017 for adequate money. And the extreme version of Flyme is so good that at a certain point, interaction with the gadget begins to bring intellectual pleasure.

Every year the number of new products among smartphones is growing. Choosing a birthday present six months in advance is not an option. In a matter of days, everything can change and a new flagship will appear on the market, which will conquer the audience. The same thing happened with Meizu Pro 7. The model has not yet had time to collect reviews, but you can make a general impression.

Market

If you were asked to describe top phone 2017 based on Android, most likely you would not forget to mention the Qualcomm Snapdragon latest version, high resolution display, dual camera and metal body.

Last year we see the same type of models that appear in almost every price segment. Even budget models skillfully copied the design of the flagships, hid metal textures behind the plastic and placed a double camera module in the cases.

Therefore, during the presentation of the Chinese smartphone, you do not expect something super new, since everything that was possible has already been invented. But with the hero of the review, everything went a little differently. Meizu Pro 7 M792H 64Gb received good reviews already at the presentation. What is so unusual in the new phone and will such a solution be successful in practice?

About phone

Meizu has accustomed buyers to the fact that every year it releases at least one flagship to the market. Sometimes there are several modifications, sometimes several top solutions. 2017 was no exception. On July 26, two smartphones were presented - Pro 7/Pro 7 Plus.

Apparently, the Chinese manufacturer continues to dream of the opportunity to stand in line with the now popular iPhone and Samsung. Hence the name of the models. Unlike the concept that the market leaders have chosen, Meizu releases models that differ not only in display sizes.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus 64Gb collected even more reviews than its younger modification. This is due to the increased display resolution. The insides of the smartphone have also changed. The older model has an improved processor and graphics controller, more random access memory. All this led to an increase in the cost of 15 thousand rubles on average.

Package

Well, it's worth starting the review of our "hero" with the packaging. Here, finally, there is something to talk about and something to praise. The company took care to present the novelty in a new light and gently hint to the buyer about one feature of the model.

Therefore, the box has been redesigned and is not at all similar to previous design solutions. All models will now be presented in black plastic boxes. They open diagonally. One half is glossy and the other half is matte. The name of the smartphone flaunts on the glossy panel, and a protective film is stuck on top.

Inside we notice another matte cardboard box. It was divided in half, and a slit is noticeable inside, from where the end of the device looks out. On the front panel, there is a paper clip to remove the tray.

Such a presentation of Meizu Pro 7 M792H 64Gb reviews will undoubtedly collect for a long time. In addition, all this was complemented by a high-quality, but modest equipment. Inside there is a special tray in which they placed a power supply with fast charging, USB cable and documentation. In some packages there was a plastic bumper.

In the top modification, a VIP card was found. It looks nice and presentable, but it is not yet clear why. Perhaps this is due to the fan clubs of the manufacturer.

Appearance

Reviews Pro 7 collected mostly positive precisely because of the design. But let's start in order. The model is presented in several colors: black, red, pink.

In fact, we have dark gray and beige, instead of black and pink. But the red case really turned out to be very bright and attractive. In the older modification there is a black version, despite its beauty, it is easily soiled.

But this, as you understand, is not the main thing. The novelty was able to stand out with an additional display on the rear panel. Naturally, it is many times smaller than the main one. To some, such a decision will seem original, someone has already expressed his dissatisfaction and misunderstanding.

Most likely, such a refinement should be called a marketing image solution. But despite the fact that this display looks beautiful, it also carries a functional load. In addition to the already well-known Always on Display technology, Meizu Pro 7 reviews say that you can make a couple more interesting and useful settings here.

Changes

In general, you can notice the changes that have affected the novelty thanks to a new element on the back cover. If it were not there, it would be possible to link flagships with previously released ones. There is still a metal rounded case with plastic inserts. From the front, it is similar to all previous models: a small bezel on the sides of the screen, large panels at the top and bottom, a familiar touch button at the bottom.

A small screen is placed close to the left edge of the rear panel and a couple of centimeters remain to the top end. You can immediately notice two camera eyes that fit above the display, a small flash. We decided to move the logo to the lower right corner and position it vertically.

Details

Meizu Pro 7 M792H has collected good reviews regarding the details and locations of familiar elements. Everything remained practically in its place. The front panel has a protective glass with an oleophobic coating.

The younger model has a display with a diagonal of 5.2 inches, the older one - 5.7 inches. The resolutions of the two screens also differ. Above the display is the front camera, earpiece, sensors and indicators. Below it is the Home button, which acts as a fingerprint scanner.

The bottom end is occupied by a headphone jack and charging. There is also a perforated grill, under which an external speaker is hidden, and a small microphone hole. An additional noise-canceling microphone is still placed on the top end.

On the right side there is a volume rocker and a lock button. On the top left they placed a tray for two SIM cards.

Ergonomics

As it turned out, users did not like the Meizu Pro 7 Plus smartphone. Reviews tipped the scales in favor of the younger model. In use, it is much more convenient in size. The older model is not easy to hold with one hand, and even more so to manage it.

However, both cases received non-slip ends and grippy sidewalls. In the hands of the model lies securely, even a large version.

Placement of all connectors in the usual place, especially for those who have previously used models from Meizu. Everything is in the end in its place in quick and free access. The universal button under the screen works quickly, without interruption. The scanner responds quickly, does not give random errors.

The screen has fingers that glide well, and prints are easily erased. It does not leave greasy stains and dust. Multi-touch responds quickly without giving out phantom clicks.

Display

Nothing outstanding can be said about the screen. Since we have flagship models in front of us, we should not have expected the worst decisions. The younger model works with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a diagonal of 5.2 inches. The older one has acquired 2560 x 1440 pixels with a size of 5.7 inches.

Both models have an AMOLED matrix, which is now rarely seen in Chinese smartphones. Most manufacturers prefer IPS. It is impossible to say which matrix is better. Some people like the bright, juicy and rich colors of AMOLED, while others are in love with the naturalness and realism of IPS.

Display brightness is good. Viewing angles were wide. Even at extreme tilts, the picture remains visible, the contrast is at the level, and the colors are practically not distorted. If it seems to the user that the color settings are incorrect, you can fix them by adjusting them yourself.

Reduced version

We must not forget about the small screen of Meizu Pro 7. It received good reviews regarding its quality. In both models, it has a size of 1.9 inches with a resolution of 240 x 536 pixels. The matrix is again AMOLED.

It has a sensor that works correctly. Although in the initial versions there were problems with it. This screen is also covered protective glass. Moreover, this is a separate panel for the display and flash. Another module was used for lenses.

Screen functions

Since the reviews about the Meizu Pro 7 phone are associated with a small screen on the rear panel, it is worth explaining what functions it performs and, in general, how it can be useful.

It is important to understand that if you are not satisfied with this display, but for some reason you still bought this model, it can be deactivated in the menu. It’s also easy to set up double-tap screen activation, change wallpapers, widgets, etc.

This screen can display information about notifications or the weather. It is possible to set the pedometer or just set the clock. Of course, in fact, this was implemented earlier as Always on Display technology, and for some, such a solution may turn out to be useless. But even here the manufacturer was able to get out. He showed another possibility.

Thanks to this screen, you can take selfies on the main camera. Of course, you won’t see any details in it, but at least it’s real to get into the lens.

Camera

The same lens modules were used for both models. The Meizu Pro 7 64Gb smartphone received good reviews in this regard. The cameras turned out to be quite good, although there were not enough stars from the sky.

Traditionally, two sensors from Sony IMX386 have already been used. Both received 12 megapixels, one of them is monochrome, the second is color. Both are well implemented, they work with aperture 2.0 lenses. The result is excellent portrait shots with good blurry backgrounds. Bokeh visually looks natural.

But still, we don’t have a camera phone in front of us, so cool photos can only be taken in good daylight. At night, the situation is bad, noticeable noise, undetailed images.

"Filling"

Well, we must not forget the most important thing. Despite its new feature, the phone remains a good device. This is evidenced by its technical component, and its cost. The younger version costs up to 35 thousand rubles, the price tag of the older one can reach 50 thousand rubles with a 128 GB drive.

Behind last years smartphones under the Meizu brand were able to break into the global market and gained well-deserved popularity among buyers. The previous generation Pro has an attractive design and impressive technical characteristics. The only thing that holds back popularity and allows Xiaomi to take a higher position is the use of Mediatek processors, which continue to be inferior to Snapdragon in terms of performance and power consumption. As the Meizu Pro 7 review showed, the new model is no exception, but it stands out from its competitors with features that we will talk about later.

Draws attention to the Meizu Pro 7 additional screen located on the rear panel. Will the manufacturer be able to set a new trend on the world stage? Let's look at how good the device turned out as part of our review.

Package Meizu Pro 7

The manufacturer has changed the approach to the design of the Meise Pro 7 box, which has remained unchanged for a long time. Now the smartphone and accessories for it are placed in a plastic package, at the end of which we see the Meizu brand logo. This definitely benefited the reputation of the company, because the first impression of the product is formed already by its box, and it turned out to be very presentable. Inside in a separate box lies network adapter, USB Type-C cable, SIM eject tool, back cover and documentation. The contents of the package are fixed in place.

Design

By tradition Meizu Pro 7 Plus review we start by getting to know him appearance, which turned out to be very restrained. If you look at the design of the front side, then it is a thickened variation of all design solutions previously developed by Meizu. As soon as you take the Pro 7 in your hands, you immediately get the feeling of a premium device, which, although it does not offer anything fundamentally new with its design, looks very attractive.

The case is completely made of metal, tactilely it makes a very pleasant impression. The Meizu Pro 7 64gb smartphone review showed that the build quality of the case corresponds to the flagship level - every detail sits tightly in the allotted place, without causing even the slightest backlash.

The surprise was back panel Meizu Pro 7, on which we find the second screen. It is touch sensitive and greatly expands functionality devices. In the lower right corner of the rear panel flaunts a corporate logo, made up of metal letters. Attention to detail is felt literally in everything. The smartphone went on sale on the Russian market at a price slightly above 30,000 rubles and is available in three interesting colors - black, red, and gold.

The ends smoothly pass into the back cover along the rounded edge. The device sits like a glove in the hand and does not slip at all.

Most of the front panel is occupied by a 5.2-inch screen, under which the mTouch multifunction key is installed, it also plays the role of a fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu Pro 7 smartphone review demonstrates that the conversational speaker occupies a central place above the display, a standard set of sensors to the left of it, and a 16 megapixel camera lens to the right. Unfortunately, there is no notification indicator.

From functional elements on the top panel there is only a hole for an additional microphone.

In the center of the bottom panel is USB port Type-C, main microphone and 3.5mm headset jack.

The layout of the keys is familiar - on the right side you can find the volume rocker and the power button. They are made of metal and pressing them is accompanied by a pleasant click.

On the left side is a tray in which you can install two SIM cards or one SIM card and microSD.

On the back cover, we see the most interesting point - a 1.9-inch screen provided in the left corner under the dual camera module and two-section flash. The possibilities of the secondary display are very great, up to taking selfies on the main camera, which we have not seen anywhere else. In addition, the manufacturer has big plans for the future and is going to release many more updates while continuing to work on the functionality.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus 64gb review showed that the design and build quality of the case correspond to the flagship level. The manufacturer focuses primarily on a non-standard approach, which immediately attracts everyone's attention. I just want to feel the additional display and find out its capabilities. Time will tell if other manufacturers will borrow this idea and whether it will take root in the market.

Meizu Pro 7 Display

The Meizu Pro 7 screen is built using Amoled technology with a diagonal of 5.7 inches and a resolution of 2560x1440. I would like to see a slightly larger margin of brightness, and the minimum mark, on the contrary, is slightly lower. Otherwise, everything is fine - the colors are natural, and standard settings colors are close to neutral and only slightly turn into warm tones.

The Meizu Pro 7 phone review in Russian showed that in the settings you can adjust the color reproduction to your liking or select one of four standard modes.

To protect your eyesight, there is a "Night mode", the inclusion of which can be set according to a schedule. When using it, the eyes do not get tired in the dark during long reading or surfing the Internet. Meizu Pro 7 PLus received a flagship display with high resolution and good color reproduction, but is 2k resolution necessary under current conditions of use. In our opinion, this is still superfluous, the picture is of high quality even at FullHD resolution, and 2K contributes to accelerated battery discharge. If you share our opinion, then you can safely buy the Pro version, which received FullHD resolution.

Secondary display on the back of Meizu Pro 7

It does not work perfectly yet, the manufacturer still has to work on the bugs, which he promises to carry out in the next updates. The additional screen is also built using AMOLED technology, has a diagonal of 1.9 inches and a resolution of 536x240. The most common problem- it does not always respond to pressing the first time. Meizu Pro 7 plus review found an interesting pattern - if the camera does not wake up from a vertical swipe, then it is worth doing two in a row so that it turns on for sure. The very idea of the additional screen is successful, it remains only to refine its functionality.

Meise managed to create multi tool, the possibilities of which will be fully opened in the future. Perhaps this will revive the global market, which presents a lot of the same type of phones. Users are waiting for original ideas and they got them in the new Meise Pro 7.

Meizu Pro 7 Performance

We continue the Meizu Pro 7 Plus review, which moves on to reviewing the characteristics. The smartphone received the flagship solution from MediaTek - X30 Plus versions and P25 as standard. The chip uses advanced solutions from the manufacturer, which increased performance and reduced throttling under heavy loads. The case does not heat up above 40 degrees, which is already a big success compared to previous chips from Mediatek. Complements the characteristics of the graphics accelerator Mali-T880 MP2, which perfectly pulls any game. 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of user memory do not spoil the overall impression. The filling is powerful, with a decent margin for the future. In synthetics, the performance is inferior to smartphones on the Snapdragon 835, but in real use you hardly notice the difference.

Meizu Pro 7 specifications and the price is optimally adjusted, because 30,000 rubles is the norm for similar characteristics. Snapdragon 835 will also be the main competitor. It’s better to pay a little extra and take the Pro Plus version, which has more powerful processor. As the Meizu Pro 7 Plus 128gb review showed, the processor does not have support for LTE Band 20, so high-speed Internet will not be everywhere.

Interface

Works Meizu Pro 7 on new version Flyme 6.0 shell, which turned out to be stylish and functional. You can see it in the photo below.

Multimedia features

The Meise Pro 7 review showed that the smartphone was created for music lovers, for which it has a Cirrus Logic CS43130 DAC installed. It provides excellent sound quality in the headset and when played from the multimedia speaker. The sound is clear and loud, with no visible distortion of the frequency range. Meizu Pro 7 sound characteristics are very good.

Autonomy Meizu Pro 7

The smartphone received a top-end chip, a large high-resolution display, which could not affect the time battery life Meizu Pro 7. But the battery here is rather big - 3000 mAh, which is quite good. Lets you know about yourself good optimization processor and system as a whole. At 60% screen brightness, the device loses about 10% of its charge in 30 minutes of playing World of Tanks. Its main competitor - OnePlus 5 - under the same conditions loses a little less - 9%. An excellent result, because the Meizu Pro 7 Plus has a higher display resolution and an additional screen. In terms of autonomy, it is slightly inferior to OnePlus 5. Meise Pro 7 plus a review in Russian showed that on average you can count on a day without recharging.

It takes only an hour to fully charge the phone, which is made possible thanks to mCharge 4.0 technology.

Step by step charging time:

  • 15 minutes - 35%
  • 30 minutes - 69%
  • 45 minutes - 90%
  • 60 minutes - 95%
  • The smartphone reaches 100% in an hour and 6 minutes.

cameras

Meizu Pro 7 camera review introduces the fact that a dual module from Sony is installed here - IMX386, which was created specifically for Meizu equipment. We have already seen such a solution in and it proved to be very good. The new model has a dual module of 12 megapixels, which perfectly shoots under any conditions. But there are also small jambs, for example, when shooting in portrait mode, the bokeh effect turns out to be overly aggressive. The picture looks spectacular, but it is still far from the “real” optical bokeh.

Sample photo on Meizu Pro 7:

A review of the Meizu Pro 7 camera showed that in the settings you can set the frame output to an additional screen for taking a selfie. You can take a picture by pressing the volume key. Photos are of high quality not only during the day, but also at night.

Self-lovers will be very pleased with the 16 MP front module. The pictures deserve the highest praise. The only drawback will be the inability to shoot 4K video. We recommend that you turn off the skin enhancement effects immediately - they blur the skin unnaturally.

Conclusion

The Meizu Pro 7 smartphone review has come to an end and it is safe to say that the manufacturer took a certain risk, offering fundamentally new design which should be actively developed in the future. This is its main feature, although other characteristics are very good and keep the flagship brand.

Advantages of Meizu Pro 7:

  • The second display, which has become a real revolution;
  • Great build;
  • Quality DAC;
  • Excellent camera module;
  • Stable interface;
  • Top stuffing.

Flaws:

  • Lack of 4K video;
  • No NFC chip.

Where can I buy?

At the time of writing the review, the smartphone could be purchased at the following online stores at the lowest prices:

Your assessment of the smartphone:

It is already difficult to surprise a modern user with anything, so the most unusual solutions are used. Such is the use of a second display in a smartphone. We have already with Pro 7 right after the presentation, but now we will share with you the impressions of longer use. And at the same time, let's try to figure out whether a second display is really needed in a smartphone?

Design, ergonomics

The Pro 7 is available in three colors - black, gold and red. In all versions of the case matte. Our sample has a gold back and a white front panel. Depending on the lighting, the shade of the case changes towards a soft pink. Auxiliary display bezel in black for all models.

Under the display is a single button, it is mechanical and has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The scanner is not the most responsive. It works accurately only if you put your finger on the sensor in the same way as you scanned it. Traditionally for the Flyme shell, the button acts as a Back key, and with a long hold - a lock. Access to the multitasking menu is implemented through a swipe from the bottom edge of the display.

The body is aluminum and feels good in the hand, it weighs 163 grams. The metal pleasantly cools the hand, but, unfortunately, it is very slippery. This becomes noticeable when you stretch your thumb towards the fingerprint scanner. The sides are slightly convex, which also does not contribute to the grip, so we recommend holding the smartphone firmly or using a case.

The build quality and materials are excellent. At 7.3mm thick, the case is torsionally rigid and the parts fit perfectly. The edges of the metal part are polished to a shine. General impression From the design of the Pro 7 is positive, it feels expensive and of high quality, the designers' attention to detail is noticeable.

From the back, the smartphone looks different than everyone else, despite the popular shape of the plastic antenna inserts. The device is distinguished by the presence of a second display on the back. It is covered with protective glass, which protrudes a fraction of a millimeter above the body. After a few weeks of use, the glass managed to get scratched. Above the display is dual camera and flash.

The bottom edge is the most saturated with connectors, there is USB Type-C, mini-jack, speaker and microphone. On the right side there is a volume rocker and a power button. Above is an additional microphone. On the left is a slot for two Nano-SIM cards. The tray is made of metal.

Display

The main display is a 5.2-inch FullHD matrix, made using Super AMOLED technology. The advantages and disadvantages of the display are traditional for of this type matrices. The display has maximum contrast and deep blacks, but loses to IPS in terms of color reproduction.

Our main complaint arose with the transfer of white, in this case it is with a gray-green tint. This was confirmed by measurements, the color gamut is expanded towards shades of green. The problem is partially solved with the help of display settings and a reading mode, thanks to which the temperature can be made a little warmer.

The minimum brightness level measured was 4 cd / m², and the maximum 328 cd / m². The unevenness of the color is also noticeable to the eye, closer to the bottom there is a slight departure to the red color, and at the top - to the green.

Second screen

Now on to the highlight of the Pro 7, the secondary display. This is a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED-matrix with a resolution of 240x536. The main purpose of the display is to display notifications, show the time and the ability to use the main camera for selfies. The display is touch sensitive and covered with glass with an oleophobic coating.

In the settings there is a separate menu item where the user can enable or disable the display, select the information that will be displayed on it, and also enable the ability to activate the screen by double tapping. In practice, this function did not work for us, perhaps the matter is in the dampness of the software.

Both displays do not work at the same time, except for the photo mode, where this can be forced. The display lights up when the smartphone is turned upside down and the user can view the time, weather and the number of steps taken. When incoming messages, the display turns on and the icon of the corresponding application is shown on it. Also, when listening to music, you can see the name of the artist and the name of the track on it. The display does not yet have other functionality, but most likely it will be expanded in the future.

In theory, the second display can replace the usual led indicator like more effective method display notifications. And if you often like to turn on the display to check incoming events, then the second display can positively affect battery life, especially if you use an AMOLED matrix. After all, it is better to turn on a small screen than to constantly light the main one.

Equipment

The youngest visited the editorial office Pro version 7, equipped with a MediaTek Helio P25 (6757T) processor. This chip is equipped with 8 Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.6GHz and GPU Mali-T880. In terms of performance, this processor is about on par with the Kirin 659, which is installed in and slightly more powerful than the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 625.

The RAM in the smartphone is 4 GB, and the permanent memory is 64 GB, there is no expansion possibility. The older version of Pro 7 with MediaTek X30, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent memory will be available for sale.

Test version of the smartphone work under Android control 7.0 and Flyme 6.1.3 shells. The smartphone works quickly, the interface is responsive. In games maximum performance you should not wait, but you can play with pleasure, even in the most demanding ones. The heating of the case under load is moderate.

The quality of reception and transmission of conversational speech is good, GPS in the city works stably. The vibrating alert is not very strong, it is easy not to feel it in your pocket. Speaker not bad, even low frequencies can be heard in it. But the main speaker upset, it is loud, but its quality is average, it lacks depth.

The sound in the headphones, on the contrary, is one of the most strengths Meizu Pro 7. The smartphone is equipped with the Cirrus Logic CS43130 audio chip. The sound can be described as very detailed and powerful, especially with good headphones.

Camera

It seems that two cameras have finally become an integral attribute of flagship (and not only) smartphones. Meizu Pro 7 is no exception. The main camera consists of two 12-megapixel sensors, f/2.0 aperture. One sensor is color, the other is monochrome.

The second sensor is activated when the “B/W” mode is turned on, but in my opinion its operation is no different from a regular black and white filter in post-processing.

Among the features of the camera there is a special background blur mode, its work is somewhat aggressive, but in good lighting you get interesting shots.

Night shots lose detail in proportion to the decrease in light. A good shot can only be obtained in manual mode and with skill.

The front camera uses a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. With it, you can take good selfies, but the quality is still inferior to the duet of the main modules.

In video recording, the capabilities of the Pro 7 are modest. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080 at 30 frames per second. You can see examples of entries below.

autonomy

The smartphone is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery. With 20 minutes of calls, 15 minutes of games, several hours of listening to music, half an hour of navigation on foot, the device worked for 1.5 days and 2 hours of active screen. During the entire time of use, a full battery charge was always enough for a day or two with an average load without games.

The Pro 7 supports fast charging, but unfortunately I didn't have one handy charger, so it could not be verified. From a conventional charger (5V / 2A), the smartphone was charged in 1.5 hours.
