Samsung j1 secrets. The cheapest AMOLED smartphone - Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)

Foreword

An ambiguous representative of the budget category of devices is the Samsung Galaxy J1 mini smartphone. Reviews definitely contain useful information about the use of the device, but first it is worth saying a few words about the brand itself and positioning.

It is worth noting that Samsung managed to gain leadership positions in the smartphone market by producing high-quality devices at an affordable price. Now the situation has changed somewhat. Budget devices are sold at inflated prices, while their characteristics leave much to be desired. The calculation is made on the fact that loyal customers will be willing to pay for the brand.

The J series was designed to be accessible to a wide range of users. Nevertheless, the "first-born" of this line, considered in this article, did not show its best side, if we talk about technical specifications. In theory, this smartphone was supposed to become a model of what devices a famous brand should produce. Later, work on the bugs was carried out, which resulted in the release of a modified version of 2016.

Device design

When choosing a smartphone, most users first of all pay attention to design, and not to reviews. "Samsung Galaxy J1" is a representative of the budget line, and, as you know, manufacturers do not pay close attention to the design of such products. Thus, the design of the smartphone is quite traditional and does not claim to be original.

Appearance of the device is quite typical for the brand "Samsung". There are traditional rounded corners, mechanical and 2 touch buttons under the screen, the usual location of the camera, flash and speaker on the rear panel. At the same time, connoisseurs of "Samsung" devices may think that in its design there is something from such devices as the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S5. There are protrusions on the bottom and top ends, which first appeared on the devices of the Galaxy Alpha line.

The device is assembled from high quality smooth plastic. Speaking about the appearance of the smartphone, it is impossible not to say about the features of the colors. The plastic is not completely matte, but has a pearly sheen, borrowed from the A and E series. But all this beauty, most likely, will have to be hidden under protective cover, otherwise the device will not retain its presentation for a long time. The thickness of the apparatus is 8.9 mm. At the same time, its weight is 122 grams. This is quite a decent figure, but not the minimum, given the dimensions of the gadget. However, the phone is quite comfortable in the hand.

Ergonomics

The smartphone "Samsung Galaxy J1" is quite convenient to use. Reviews contain information that the device is practically no different from other devices of this manufacturer. So, above the screen you can see the earpiece, front camera peephole and proximity sensor. You can also see the corporate logo, as well as the inscription Duos, which indicates that the phone is dual-sim.

Under the display, you can see the mechanical button "Home", as well as the touch keys of the task manager and "Back". The latter are not equipped with a backlight (which is typical for budget models), but experienced users note that their location is quite convenient. Thus, there is no problem in order to intuitively determine their location even in the dark.

At the top of the rear panel is the main camera lens. Like most other Samsung devices, it protrudes slightly above the lid, which is not to the liking of all users. On the sides of the lens is a flash and an external speaker. The company logo is also applied on the back cover.

The volume rocker and the power button are located, respectively, on the left and right sides. The headphone jack is on the top (which, according to user reviews, is not very convenient), and speaking microphone And USB port- at the bottom.

What's under the lid?

On this moment Most smartphones are characterized by a monolithic, non-separable body. This is not typical for budget devices, which include the Samsung Galaxy J1. The reviews contain a positive assessment of the possibility of removing the back cover, but there were some complaints.

Under rear panel there is a removable battery, a combo slot for the main SIM card, and a slot for an additional SIM card. Users consider the location of these elements not entirely successful. So, to install the main SIM card and memory expansion, the battery will have to be removed, which, in turn, will reset the date and time settings.

Screen features

The screen of the smartphone "Samsung Galaxy J1 mini" does not differ in any outstanding qualities. Reviews allow us to conclude that the screen, although of high quality, is very mediocre. A 4.3-inch diagonal was an attribute of flagship smartphones a few years ago, but now it’s not enough even for a “state employee”.

It is worth noting that the dot density is not the highest, and therefore a slight graininess is noticeable even to the naked eye. Still, the picture looks good, and the colors are quite juicy. The poor quality of the screen manifests itself in the sun, when the image is almost impossible to see. Viewing angles also leave much to be desired.

The screen has a good margin of brightness (384.6 cd / sq. M). However, there are some problems with black. It is not deep enough, and therefore noticeably gives gray. Speaking about color reproduction in general, it is worth saying that it is quite average.

Talking about the color temperature, it is worth noting that its graph exceeded expectations. Even though the image has a slight bluish tinge, the curve looks almost perfect. In this case, the image is not darkened and does not light up.

The screen recognizes only two touches, which is typical for budget devices. At the same time, there are practically no settings for it. Of course, the display does not have any outstanding characteristics, but for a budget device it is quite good.

Camera

The phone has long ceased to perform only a communication function. Smartphones have long replaced the traditional "soap dishes", and therefore it is worth paying attention to the Samsung Galaxy J1 mini cameras. Reviews allow us to conclude that this component is fully consistent with the budget category of the device.

As noted earlier, the smartphone is equipped with a main and front camera. The first is characterized by a resolution of 5 megapixels, and the second - 2 megapixels. The camera application is standard for all devices of this manufacturer. All settings are grouped into a grid. In this case, you can choose the size and resolution of the frame. In addition to automatic, there are several additional shooting modes.

The main camera takes pretty mediocre pictures. Of course, in good daylight, good shots are obtained. But in most cases, they are not sharp enough. You should not expect anything supernatural from the 2-megapixel front camera either. But for example, the Galaxy S5 takes much better pictures at the same resolution. But this is a flagship. And for a state employee, the J1 cameras have quite good characteristics.

Performance

If you want to evaluate the performance of the Samsung Galaxy J1 smartphone, customer reviews will help you draw certain conclusions on this issue. To begin with, it is worth mentioning the Spreadtrum processor, which cannot be called famous. However, such technological solutions typical for budget devices from Samsung. Even though the phone came out in 2015, it uses a 2014 version of the processor. It is enough for the layman to know that outdated technological standards can cause strong heating and increased energy consumption.

The Mali-400 MP2 video card is a pleasant surprise for a budget smartphone. But 512 MB random access memory does not paint this unit. Even cheaper smartphones can boast a more impressive indicator. Thus, you should not count on either great autonomy or fast work in programs and games. And 4 GB of internal memory, of which only 1.5 GB is available to the user, looks completely ridiculous.

Most of the battery consumption is in the display. At the same time, the manufacturer proposes to optimize autonomy due to the extreme power saving mode, which consists in transferring the device to black and white mode. However, buyers should be aware that such a measure is effective only in the case of Amoled displays, but such a conversion has almost no effect on the power consumption of LCD screens.

Software

Can't be bypassed software smartphone "Samsung Galaxy J1". Owner reviews note that the device is equipped with the Android 4.4.4 operating system, and also received the proprietary TouchWIZ shell. Given that the RAM is only 512 MB, you can hardly count on upgrading to the fifth and newer versions.

The interface of the device is understandable and well recognizable for everyone who has previously dealt with the devices of this manufacturer. Loaded branded wallpapers that look beautiful even at low screen quality, and also make the desktop more interesting and colorful.

Speaking of pre-installed applications, nothing interesting can be singled out. There is only the bare minimum. And this is not only in the budget category of the device. The limited amount of memory, purely physically, does not allow you to install something more. In the company's app store for this device also nothing interesting.

The notification panel, in addition to the round icons of the parameters, also contains a list of events and a brightness adjustment mechanism. Considering the small screen size, we can say that the device cannot offer anything supernatural, and the application interface looks somehow truncated. This applies not only to the appearance, but also to the functionality.

Comparison of Samsung Galaxy J1 and Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)

In 2016, an updated version of the smartphone in question was released, which was called the Samsung Galaxy J1 6. Reviews are mainly based on the assessment of the device with its predecessor. Comparing the 2 devices, we can highlight the following key points:

  • the 2016 version is equipped with an LTE module;
  • the new version has a Super Amoled screen;
  • in the smartphone of 2016, the display diagonal is increased by 0.2 inches;
  • V old version the pixel density is 219, while the new one is 245;
  • RAM expanded to 1 GB (from 512 MB);
  • internal memory expanded to 8 GB (up from 4 GB);
  • version update operating system to Lollipop;
  • more capacious battery (2050 mAh versus 1850 mAh in the previous version).

Positive feedback about the phone "Samsung Galaxy J1"

Even the most detailed technical description cannot give such a complete impression of the gadget as the opinion of experienced users. Quite a few advantages of this gadget contain reviews. "Samsung Galaxy J1" has the following positive aspects:

  • small mass;
  • nice design;
  • support for 2 SIM cards;
  • good color rendering;
  • it is possible to expand the memory up to 128 GB;
  • under moderate load, the battery lasts two days;
  • good audibility during a call;
  • there is a radio with the ability to record audio;
  • powerful processor ensures fast and smooth operation;
  • removable battery that can be easily replaced if necessary;
  • powerful flash that allows you to take good shots even in poor lighting;
  • good viewing angles;
  • the back cover is quite flexible, which practically eliminates the risk of breaking it when removed;
  • there is an extreme power saving function;
  • affordable price;
  • you can transfer applications to a memory card (in the updated version of 2016);
  • convenient proprietary interface;
  • wide range of screen brightness adjustment, which provides sharp image in sunny weather.

Negative reviews about the smartphone "Samsung Galaxy J1"

Unfortunately, there are no perfect gadgets. Especially when it comes to budget devices. You can find out about all the possible shortcomings by reading the reviews. "Samsung Galaxy J1" has such negative sides:

  • there is no light sensor that could provide the ability to automatically adjust the brightness;
  • the screen is small in relation to the body (the frames look too wide);
  • of the total memory, only 4 GB is available to the user (and in the first version even less - only 1.5 GB);
  • modest equipment;
  • the case is quickly scratched if you carry the phone without a case;
  • the back cover is slightly wobbly and creaks when pressed;
  • uninformative user manual (extended instructions have to be downloaded on the Internet).

Conclusion

If you are thinking about buying a Samsung Galaxy mini J1 smartphone, reviews, photos will help you navigate your choice. The first thing you should pay attention to is a weak processor, which has only 2 cores and a modest 512 MB of RAM. This significantly reduces the performance of the device. So, it is enough to simultaneously run 2-3 applications for noticeable interruptions in the operation of the device.

As for the video card, it will please game lovers. But not everything is so simple here either. A small amount of RAM can become an obstacle to the smooth operation of applications. And given that from internal memory no more than 1.5 GB is available to the user, it will not be possible to install some "heavy" games on this device.

Of the positive characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy J1 mini, reviews note good build quality and quite decent autonomy. Active Users they can count on the fact that the battery will "live" the whole day, and if you use the device only for communication, then the charge can last up to 2 days.

Thus, this device is not suitable for lovers of modern gadgets. For a similar price, you can find smartphones with more interesting and modern "stuffing". This smartphone will certainly appeal to Samsung fans who are looking for nothing more than a stylish dialer with a number of nice additional features.

Positioning

Samsung has been moving towards market leadership for a long time mobile phones, and the basis of the company's success was budget devices, phones that characterized the excellent price / quality ratio, reliable assembly and adequate characteristics. It is these products that have created fame for the Samsung brand, and it owes its continued success to them. It is all the more surprising to see how the company from time to time abandons its roots, releasing budget devices with the cost of a small aircraft. The calculation is based solely on the fact that the brand is quite popular, the consumer is inexperienced, and in order to own a Samsung phone, he will give up his last pants. It's kind of a magical world where reality isn't present in any form, and Samsung's budget phones are more and more synonymous with inefficiency, high price, and a great comparison for Chinese smartphones, which, against the background of the devices of the Korean company, earn a lot of additional points in the eyes of buyers.

In theory, the J series was supposed to be affordable and widespread. In practice, the first model J1 is inferior even to Microsoft's Lumia in terms of consumer efficiency, which means that it is inefficient squared. To create something worse in terms of its consumer characteristics than what Microsoft does, one must make not just hellish efforts, but accomplish a feat of inhuman scale. Remember the conversation with the blacksmith in the movie about Count Cagliostro? Here is an excerpt from the movie "Formula of Love":

The guests' carriage broke down. How much will you do?
- I'll manage in a day.
- And for five?
- If you try - you can and for five.
- What about ten?
- Well ... You can't do it alone for ten days, you need an assistant here.

I have a feeling that the budget J series was created not by one assistant, but by a whole army of them. Since to imagine that such a device was created by one person means to doubt his perception of the market and the world around him. In a beautiful wrapper, they sell us stale goods that cost several times less than the price that they ask for it. That rare case when a device from a large company can act as an ideal benchmark for what not to do in terms of price. Let's see together why I had a claim to the cost and I can not recommend this device for purchase under any circumstances.

Although given that the model is presented in different versions, it is necessary to distinguish between them. For example, the version with LTE on board, namely the SM-J100F, has one SIM card, but a different platform and is much faster than the cheapest device. Outwardly, these are absolutely the same phones, they are called the same in retail, so carefully read what you buy. The difference can be stunning.

Design, dimensions, controls

From the outside, it's a classic Samsung phone, solidly built, with a bezel around the screen that makes it a bit more interesting. Aesthetics is the same as other devices - typical Samsung, nothing budget in appearance. There are three color schemes - white with mother-of-pearl shimmer, black and blue.

The quality of the plastic is beyond praise, it is excellent, and this distinguishes the model from many budget devices. On the left side there is a paired volume rocker (also unusual), on the right side there is an on/off button. At the bottom you can see the microUSB connector, at the top - 3.5 mm for the headset.

We open the back cover, inside there is a battery and two slots for microSIM cards (in models for one card, there is no second slot, instead of it there is a plug), as well as a microSD slot.

I like the way the phone fits in my hand, it's not bad (129x68.2x8.9 mm, weight 122 grams). Yes, and in the pockets of clothes hides with ease. Under the screen is a mechanical key, as well as two touch. From the point of view of assembly and appearance, the device has no complaints. Everything is typical for a budget model, the quality is above average.

Display

The screen has a diagonal of 4.3 inches, resolution - 480x800 pixels. For a budget device, the quality of the TFT-matrix is excellent, it is bright and well distinguishable in various conditions, including outdoors. A serious minus and penny savings - in the absence of a light indicator, only manual adjustment for screen brightness, which makes the device super-budget, few people save on this component.

Traditionally, there is a choice of different fonts, their style and size. The model is pleasant in terms of these features, but this is a standard option for all similar devices from the company.

Battery

Battery Li-Ion 1850 mAh, it provides, according to the manufacturer, up to 9 hours of work on the Internet (3G or Wi-Fi), up to 10 hours of talk time, up to 40 hours of music playback. In real conditions, the device works a day at a very heavy load, ordinary consumers will get about two full days. This is a good result, which was made possible thanks to both the screen and the not very hasty processor.

The device has a maximum energy saving mode, everything is turned off in it, except for the main functions, the operating time increases. Considering that the screen is a regular TFT, this does not give any huge increase in operating time compared to a similar function in the company's flagships.

The total time for charging the battery with the device from the kit is 1 hour 45 minutes.

Processor, memory, performance

The device has 512 MB of RAM, which even for a budget device in 2015 looks like an unusually small amount. We usually find this amount of memory in the most inexpensive, budget devices from small manufacturers. The Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset, two cores up to 1.2 GHz, is an ultra-budget and very cheap solution. Result? Not a single synthetic test that has 3D tests can be passed to the end on this device - they just crash. They say there are lucky people who can complete Antutu on pristine devices and get about 12 thousand virtual parrots. But dancing with a tambourine, summoning spirits and other tricks could not bring our apparatus to such a state. This test does not work, crashes.

In practice, this means that the interface is slow, jerky and not very pleasing to the eye. This is found in very inexpensive models of last year, in modern state employees The interface is noticeably faster.

You can put memory cards up to 128 GB, but who will do it in such an inexpensive device? The main thing is that the internal memory is 4 GB, of which a little less than 2 GB is available for your needs.

If for the younger versions of this model, everything is bad with performance, then the model with the F index offers completely different possibilities. It has 768 MB of RAM, which is not much by today's standards, but quite enough for a fairly fast work, and this is noticeable to the naked eye when you look at two devices. All other characteristics are the same, but the Marvell PXA1908 chipset 4 cores up to 1.2 GHz, Vivante GC7000UL graphics coprocessor, give a completely different impression of the model. And unlike the inexpensive option, the same Antutu ends up fine, showing these results.

If the variants of this device on Broadcom are perceived as nothing in terms of performance, then the phone on the budget Marvell already looks normal from the point of view of the market.

Communication options

The usual and familiar set, there is synchronization with a PC (USB 2.0, KIES), Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, BT 4.0, there is no NFC, but there is support for GPS / Glonass. The positioning speed is low not because of the quality of the antenna, but rather because of the general brakes of the device.

Version F has NFC, and also has support for LTE. There are no problems with the implementation of this technology, everything works well.

Camera

The front camera is 2 megapixels, and it is noticeably better than in most budget devices. Main camera with auto focus, 5 megapixels, HD video recording (30 frames per second). I like how this camera shoots, albeit slowly, but the pictures for this class of devices come out normal. There is a couple unusual opportunities so that the unit can recognize your raised hand (selfie mode) and take a picture. And can take a picture by clicking on the screen. But believe me, these innovations are not at all important in the general background.

Photo examples

Software features

Inside Android 4.4.4, there can be no upgrade to 5, the chipset does not support it. I would be very surprised if such a miracle suddenly happens. I will not describe the standard functionality, I will only note that there is an FM radio, it works with a headset, there is a recording from the air. Notes, calculator, voice recorder - everything is traditional for Samsung, you can see the screenshots below.

Impression

The connection quality is normal, the microphone, however, is one, so in noisy conditions the interlocutor will hear you poorly. The vibrating alert is average, the usual call is above average, well distinguishable.

To understand how bad things are with the J1, you can look at my eternal standard of badness - Lumia from Microsoft. For 10,000 rubles, you can buy such a novelty as Lumia 640: a 5-inch HD screen, 1 GB of RAM inside, 8 GB of internal memory, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. The feeling that these are devices of a different class, which, in fact, this is true. The price of new items from Microsoft is 10,000 rubles. A curtain.

But the funny thing is that the market is full of Android devices that outperform the J1 in every way. Let's look at the operator's market, it could be the Megafon Login+ phablet (5.5 inches, 960x540 pixels, faster processor, more memory, and so on). The price is 3,990 rubles plus about a thousand rubles to the account.

Want to laugh some more? Approximately comparable and slightly worse in terms of characteristics of ZTE V815 costs 2,990 rubles in MegaFon, of which another 500 are returned to your account. That is, for the cost of this device, you can buy a quarter of J1 or a third, as you like. For 10,000 rubles, you can buy a normal device of a completely different class.

Or let's take something more expensive, for example, Alcatel Idol Mini 2, perfectly executed externally, the price is about 6,000 rubles. More screen, higher resolution, better camera- it's just a product from another universe. Works much faster.

In principle, for 7-10 thousand rubles, you can already look after smartphones with 5-inch screens with HD resolution, a main camera of 8-13 megapixels, good performance are definitely fast. And that's okay.

IN different versions J1 is very easy to get confused, but they are very different from each other. So, if the cheapest devices cause melancholy, then the SM-J100F with LTE and NFC support, on a faster, albeit budget chipset, does not look like a complete outsider (in Russia, MTS has been exclusive to this model for some time). This device costs 9990 rubles (in the version of the review before the correction, this price was for younger models, which are not in the Russian Federation and apparently will not be). In theory, the cheapest J1s cost around $80-90 depending on the market and are the cheapest devices from Samsung. This does not change their shortcomings related to the platform, performance, and so on. The situation is a little better, since in Russia they would cost about 5-6 thousand rubles if they suddenly appeared. It's still very expensive, but not as prohibitive as at a cost of 9990 rubles, which is not for them.

The LTE version of this handset doesn't look cheap, but at least it has its own bells and whistles to justify its existence. It's still expensive, but not so outrageous, and Chinese devices in this price group usually don't have LTE. Another question is how much it is needed by consumers in this segment? I don't think it's really needed.

I have only one question - why do all the reviews that are in Russian (Russian publications did not write, the device is “popular” in Ukraine) do not call a spade a spade - why do these bashful phrases “have the right to exist”? It has no right in the current market, since the price is unrealistic and differs from the real one by at least twice, or even three times. The manufacturer has the right to know that he is positioning his device incorrectly. As well as consumers should know for sure that it is not worth throwing money at it. The word "disappointing" is not quite right here, this budget model proves that any company can, if desired, release something that will be worse than the Lumia. Although it would seem that this is impossible. But no, there are craftsmen.

Samsung started 2016 with cheap smartphones. However, this is not entirely true - in December 2015, new metal Galaxy A were announced, which belong to the fashion middle segment, but they went on sale only in January. However, the company had something to announce in January 2016.

The most "real" was the phone samsung galaxy J1 (2016) is a new budget model, the most inexpensive among smartphones from the Korean manufacturer. Why is he "more real" than the others? Everything is very simple - this tube went on sale almost immediately. Moreover, in comparison with, it was seriously refreshed.

In fact, Galaxy J1 (2016) marks a new milestone in smartphone construction. Samsung has not yet used Super AMOLED screens in such cheap devices. This tube was the first of its kind, while gaining an undeniable advantage over many competitors - whatever one may say, AMOLED technology is more promising than liquid crystals, even if it is an IPS matrix. Yes, and IPS matrices are different - in cheap phones no one will install top developments.

In general, let's figure out what else the Galaxy J1 (2016) is good for and what its disadvantages are.

Video review Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)

As always, first we suggest looking at the Galaxy J1 (2016) in the video:

Design

Samsung decided to take up design in 2015. First, the first generation Galaxy A metal smartphones were released, and then the flagships from the Galaxy S line followed. And in 2016, the South Korean manufacturer took up budget devices.

The Galaxy J1 (2016) bears little resemblance to a typical Samsung device. Although it would seem - there are heavily rounded corners, and the traditional three buttons under the screen. It seems to be the same familiar "remnant", but it looks completely different.

The secret of the transformation turned out to be extremely simple - the screen is surrounded by a black frame, at the same time going to the top panel. Exactly on this contrast, new budget smartphones are moving out - in such an uncomplicated way, the company has achieved a noticeable design refresh.

Of course, you can see this "innovation" only with a white (Galaxy J1 (2016) white) or gold (Galaxy J1 (2016) gold) handset. Black Galaxy J1 (2016) black is almost indistinguishable from its predecessors. It should also be noted that Samsung applied a similar design concept for the entire budget line (we already got acquainted with the older one), so this design option will “get boring” soon enough.

But at the back, almost nothing has changed. There is an ordinary plastic cover with a soft-tack coating, with sloping sides flowing into silver ends. From this angle, innovations are not visible, so during a conversation, boasting of an updated appearance from Samsung will not work.

However, the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016), despite its budget, is well executed and very well built. Moreover, for an inexpensive device, it does not have such a large thickness of 8.9 mm, and the weight is quite small - 131 grams. With such parameters, using a smartphone is more than convenient.

The redesign of the affordable Samsung family can be considered successful. Galaxy J1 (2016) as a junior model looks good, and the workmanship did not disappoint.

Connectors and controls

Redesign redesign, but Samsung has not changed the ergonomics for many years, leaving all the elements in their places. We can't help but commend her for this decision.

There are many elements above the screen: earpiece, front camera lens, light and proximity sensors. But there is no LED indicator for events. Samsung for some reason decided to abandon it in its many models.

Under the display, you can see a trio of typical "Samsung" buttons: the list of applications, Back and Home. The latter, as always, is mechanical, and the first two are touch-sensitive, but lack backlighting. Samsung does not use it in inexpensive products.

At the back, all elements are grouped at the top. Here you can see the rear camera lens, LED flash and external speaker.

On the left side is the volume rocker.

On the right, as always, is the power button.

On top you can see a 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones and a headset. In Samsung's flagship products, it is already placed at the bottom, which is much more convenient, but inexpensive smartphones do not have such a privilege yet.

Below is the microUSB connector, and a little to the right of it is a conversational microphone. No noise canceling microphone either.

But, unlike top-end smartphones, Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) can be easily and easily disassembled, as well as replace the battery yourself.

The microSIM card slots are located in an unusual place - right under the battery. Usually on Samsung phones, they can be found on the side of the battery, such as the microSD card slot. If you suddenly can not cope with the installation of cards, we suggest watching our short video about this:

In total, we have no complaints about the ergonomics of the Galaxy J1 (2016) - everything is in its usual places, albeit not in the most convenient places, like the flagships of Samsung. But, recall, we are dealing with one of the most affordable smartphones of the Korean company.

Case for Galaxy J1 (2016)

It turned out to be extremely difficult to buy a case or cover for the Galaxy J1 (2016) at the time of writing this article - this handset is too new, and therefore nothing has been specially released yet.

Potentially expected here is a case-book for the Galaxy J1 (2016). Its price is still unknown, but it is unlikely to exceed 1500 rubles.

A flip case for the Galaxy J1 (2016) like this costs something like 1000 rubles. It doesn't look very good, though.

Screen

The smartphone screen market in 2015, and now in 2016, is undergoing significant changes. Moreover, they started with an easy samsung hands, which began to increase the sale of OLED displays to the side. Other manufacturers, including Apple, have taken advantage of this technology's benefits of excellent color reproduction, wide viewing angles, deep blacks and, most importantly, lower power consumption, and are now launching more products with new types of displays. Samsung, which is important, contributes to this process as much as possible by installing AMOLED matrices even in budget solutions.

The Galaxy J1 (2016) is one of the cheapest AMOLED smartphones on the market. Actually, this is its main feature - an LED display at a low price. But, of course, its capabilities were limited in a certain way, so that an affordable handset would not compete with older models. It's worth starting with the fact that the screen resolution is quite modest by modern standards - only 800x480 pixels. The Galaxy J1 of the first generation has the same, but there the diagonal was 4.3", and here we have 4.5". In other words, the dot density has dropped to 207 ppi, so the picture is not very sharp. In our opinion, it would not be difficult to increase the resolution to 960x540 pixels - it will not compete with other products of the company.

But otherwise, the screen of the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) proved to be the best. Undoubtedly, the manufacturer did not use its latest generation, but it still looks much better than similarly priced devices with IPS matrices offer. The display has a decent margin of brightness, excellent viewing angles, it is distinguished by a bright and rich picture.

Objective measurements only confirm what has been said - the maximum brightness was measured at 434.76 cd / m 2, which is very good and generally above average. The brightness of the black color, we recall, in OLED technology tends to zero, so black looks so natural.

It is noteworthy that the Galaxy J1 (2016) received the ability to select screen profiles, just like older models. As usual, the Adaptive profile provides an extended color gamut approaching the Adobe RGB color space. If you switch to Primary, where the colors are calmer, more like IPS displays, then the color gamut will also narrow down to sRGB. But it won't be visible to the naked eye.

The color temperature also depends on the selected profile. So on Adaptive it is overestimated by about 800-1300K, that is, it is colder. The “calmness” of the colors of the Main Profile is explained, among other things, by a warmer temperature - here the excess relative to the 6500K standard is within 500-600K.

The gamma curves are weird. On both tested profiles, Basic and Adaptive, they are well above the 2.2 reference curve. Because of this, the image is output lighter than necessary. Again, this is unlikely to be noticeable to the eye, but still I would like to see the color reproduction as close to the correct one as possible.

Galaxy J1 (2016) screen recognizes up to five simultaneous touches. Also an artificial limitation - for Samsung flagships, such displays work without question with all fingers at once.

Screen settings pleased with the presence of the "Screen Mode" section, where these same profiles are selected. In addition to Adaptive and Basic, there is also Photo and Movie, the names of which speak for themselves. But here's another artificial limitation regarding the possibility of auto-brightness, which frustrates the most - of all the minuses of the display, this is the most significant and noticeable. But Samsung has made the "Outdoors" mode, by turning on which the display brightness grows by about a quarter.

In general, we liked the screen of the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016). Still, this is AMOLED with all the consequences. True, certain restrictions are frustrating, made so that the smartphone does not compete with the company's more expensive products: low resolution and lack of auto-brightness. The remaining disadvantages are not so significant and will not be noticeable.

Camera

Many people know that the camera of Samsung devices is one of their strongest components. However, in relation to budget products, this is not entirely true. The company may not deprive them of their advanced image processing algorithms, but the sensors are not installed so that they are the best, and not the highest resolution. As a result, Galaxy J1 (2016) received a 5 MP rear camera.

To work with it, a standard application from Samsung is intended - we saw this on many of its smartphones in 2015 and 2016. Quick options are displayed on the left, including filter switching and a timer.

In addition, there are various shooting modes, including Pro, where you can set individual photo parameters: white balance, ISO and exposure compensation.

Permission is set in the settings. Note that 5 MP frames can only be obtained when choosing an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Obviously, the main sensor in the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) deserves the “so-so” characteristic, but at the same time, the processing algorithms are clearly trying, pulling out everything that is possible from the received images to the last. So it turns out that on a fine sunny day you can see decent photos, but when the lighting becomes less, noise appears, sharpness drops. This maintains a more or less correct white balance.

Video shooting is limited to 1280x720 pixels - this is also a normal practice for Samsung.

Videos are normal if taken during the day. Here everything is entirely the same as with the photo: in good conditions they come out well, and in the evening it will be “so-so”.

The front camera also has a couple of shooting modes.

Its resolution is not slaughtered "to zero" and is 2 MP with a frame aspect ratio of 4:3. Otherwise, by the way, it is not supported.

The face sensor does not shoot as badly as it could. The frames are desperately lacking in sharpness, but the colors are generally good, the white balance is correct, there is no characteristic flare.

One more restriction is imposed on the video from the front camera - the resolution is not higher than 0.3 MP.

The video quality is generally good, but the low VGA resolution spoils everything.

In general, the cameras of the Galaxy J1 (2016) correspond to the level of the device - there are not enough stars from the sky, but it’s hard to call them completely bad. Of course, the low resolution of shooting video from the front camera is depressing, but otherwise everything is more or less tolerable, especially if you shoot outdoors during the day.

Specifications Galaxy J1 (2016)

Samsung wouldn't be itself if it didn't make a bunch of modifications to a potentially popular smartphone model. As a result, the phone in question exists in several modifications at once. So there is our Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) Duos marked SM-J120F (on the Exynos 3475 processor) and SM-J120H (the one we had on the Spreadtrum SC8830 chip). We also found a certain Galaxy J1 mini, aka J1 Nxt, with a smaller 4-inch LCD screen. Also on sale so far you can find models of 2015: Galaxy J1, Galaxy J1 4G, Galaxy J1 mini.

As you can see, the difference between the Galaxy J1 (2016) and the first Galaxy J1 is not very big, although on some points it is clearly visible and directly affects the usability. So the more modern model now has a 4-core processor, twice as much memory, the screen size and battery capacity have grown. And the screen itself has changed from an inexpensive LCD (not even IPS) to a decent AMOLED. In general, the new smartphone looks noticeably better, and to be honest, the last one was worth “not slaughtering” so much.

The processor inside the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016), although quad-core, is still the same Spreadtrum SC8830 that we somehow happened to see in a tablet. Its cores are based on not the latest 32-bit Cortex-A7 architecture and operate at a not very high frequency of 1.2 GHz. But, undoubtedly, the smoothness and responsiveness of the interface on the new smartphone is noticeably better than its predecessor.

It should be noted that we may have on sale a modification of the SM-J120F, which is with a Samsung Exynos 3475 processor. It looks more interesting due to two points: four Cortex-A7 cores operating at a higher frequency of 1.3 GHz, and this video card Mali-T720. The phone we had (SM-J120H) offers an outdated graphics chip Mali-400 MP2, which is no longer very productive, and does not support current graphic interfaces- OpenGL ES 2.0 only. Mali-T720, even if it turns out not to be much faster, is at least compatible with OpenGL ES 3.0.

In terms of memory, the Galaxy J1 2016 is noticeably improved - it received 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash. In fact, there is nothing outstanding in these parameters - today it is the norm. But the Galaxy J1 of the first generation was seriously limited in terms of these characteristics - 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of flash, and even for the money that was asked for it at the start, was a real mockery. Now Samsung has corrected, which pleases.

Otherwise, the Galaxy J1 (2016) looks like a typical inexpensive handset. There is no support for 4G, although we will not rule out the appearance of an option with it in the near future. The rest of the communications are also more than usual: Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. But the increased battery capacity from 1850 to 2050 mAh cannot but rejoice. True, at the same time, the weight increased by 9 grams, but still it is quite small.

It turns out that the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) is a typical budget smartphone, but with an outstanding screen. The rest of its characteristics do not go beyond the scope of most similar proposals.

Performance Testing

We decided to evaluate the speed of Galaxy J1 (2016) in comparison with its predecessor Galaxy J1, aka SM-J100H. Let's see if there is any noticeable increase over the year.

The old system-wide tests Smartbench 2012 and Quadrant gave a clear victory to the new Galaxy J1 (2016). The presence of a couple more nuclei clearly affects. Even graphics performance was higher, albeit insignificantly. But we will not provide data from the more modern Antutu benchmark - it did not start on the old Galaxy J1. On the new one, if you're interested, we got 21964 points, which is not very much.

The SunSpider browser test also gave the victory to the smartphone of 2016, and its superiority is very large.

The video card in both phones is really weak, since even in electopia, which is far from the most modern 3D test, they barely got 30 FPS.

The more serious 3DMark benchmark gave the victory to the Galaxy J1 (2016), although the graphics performance of both handsets is about the same on a larger scale.

When testing the autonomy of the Galaxy J1 (2016), we got extremely strange results - the smartphone had only 30% of the charge left after completing all the tasks. This is extremely small and completely atypical for Samsung products. Therefore, we are inclined to attribute this circumstance to the shortcomings of the unsaleable test sample, as well as the imperfection of its firmware. Obviously, the retail version will not have such a disadvantage. This can be counted on for the following reasons: the first Galaxy J1 provides good autonomy, the new model has a more energy-efficient AMOLED screen, and it also has an increased battery capacity to 2050 mAh.

The best part is that Samsung did not deprive its budget smartphone of the extreme power saving mode, which fully reveals itself with the AMOLED display, translating everything into black and white colors.

Games on Galaxy J1 (2016)

Today the biggest "gaming" problem on low-cost smartphones- this is a small amount of built-in memory, and not a lack of computing power at all. The volume of games reaches hundreds of megabytes and even several gigabytes, because of which they will quickly take up all the available space on the device.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 7: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Modern Combat 5: Blackout: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • N.O.V.A. 3: some delays are visible;

  • Dead Trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Real Racing 3: some delays are visible;

  • need For Speed: No limits: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: some delays are visible;

  • Frontline Commando 2: noticeable delays are visible;

  • Eternity Warriors 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • Eternity Warriors 3: not available in the Play Store;

  • Eternity Warriors 4: some delays are visible;

  • Trial Xtreme 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Trial Xtreme 4: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • dead effect: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • Dead Effect 2: did not start;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Iron Man 3: some delays are visible;

  • dead target: excellent, the game does not slow down.

As you can see, most games work really well on the Galaxy J1 (2016). Questions arose only from certain "heavyweights" like N.O.V.A. 3, Eternity Warriors 4, Real Racing 3. And even then, everything is not so bad there that it is completely impossible to play.

BY

The year is 2016, which means it's time to use Android 5.1 everywhere. In fact, the situation is as follows: all Samsung devices, released before the Galaxy S7, run on Android 5.1, and that will appear later, for the most part, get Android 6.0. Of course, some of the “old” models will be upgraded to the “six”, but with regard to the Galaxy J1 (2016), you can not have such hopes - the Korean company does not make such concessions to budget products.

So, Galaxy J1 (2016), Android 5.1 and the proprietary TouchWIZ shell, so familiar and familiar if you have already dealt with Samsung devices.

Here everything is the same that we have seen more than once. So this is the notification panel, like in "pure" Android, but with a different quick options panel. The list of recent applications, also known as the task manager, is almost the same as the "original", but with the ability to close all programs.

There is a certain set of standard widgets, and notifications are displayed on the lock screen.

There are not very many applications on the Galaxy J1 (2016). More precisely, not so - there is their standard set, necessary to get started. It includes a browser mail client, calendar, alarm clock, calculator and so on. All in a special version from Samsung. But there are no additional "proprietary" utilities like S Health and the like - this was left to more expensive models.

It is noteworthy that the store Galaxy apps Apps has a dedicated Galaxy Essentials section. If someone is not in the know, here are the programs that Samsung provides to users of its products, but does not install them on smartphones and tablets, so as not to clog their memory. In general, there is something for the budget model, which is nice.

Everything else is typical here. There is a corporate calendar S Planner.

Simple and moderately functional file manager.

Clock application that combines an alarm clock, world time, stopwatch and timer.

The rest does not make much sense to describe - all these are ordinary applications that are on every smartphone. Galaxy J1 (2016), due to its availability, does not differ in any special set of software. Everything is typical here, only in the familiar shell from Samsung.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) looks noticeably better than its predecessor, introduced a year earlier. The new smartphone can no longer be called a "white crow" with it is not clear why the performance has deteriorated and, because of this, an inadequate price. The current phone is quite in trend, both in terms of its parameters and cost.

In addition, now the device has acquired a "chip", something that noticeably distinguishes it from the rest. We are talking about an AMOLED screen, which is not only better than the display that the first Galaxy J1 had, but also surpasses the IPS matrices used by competing models.

The smartphone also has a refreshed design, high-quality assembly, more or less normal shooting quality. True, the lack of automatic brightness control is somewhat frustrating, and the screen resolution is low. But there's nothing to be done - the Galaxy J1 (2016) should not outperform older more expensive models. But how much is he worth?

Price Galaxy J1 (2016)

You can buy Galaxy J1 (2016) for 9 thousand rubles, which is not so much. As it turned out, this phone really has no direct competitors. With a similar screen diagonal and price, everything is sold a little cheaper and with a worse display, or more expensive and the screen there is also very “average” IPS.

Take, for example, with a price of 7 thousand rubles. Yes, it's cheaper, it has a 4.5-inch screen, albeit a slightly higher resolution of 854x480 pixels. But it's not even IPS, but an inexpensive TFT. The processor is plus or minus the same, MediaTek MT6735M, 2000 mAh battery, 5 MP camera, Android 5.1. From a larger handset, it repeats the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) and at the same time costs less, but do not forget about the AMOLED screen - if you pick up two smartphones, the difference between them will be striking.

Or here's another, ASUS ZenFone Go (ZC451TG) for 7500-8000 rubles. The parameters here are exactly the same as those of the Lenovo A2010: a 4.5-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 854x480, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of flash, a 5 MP camera (and a 0.3 MP front one is a complete disgrace), and at the same time an outdated 4 -core processor MediaTek MT6580, similar to the tested Samsung. Throw in Android 5.1 and a small 1600 mAh battery. I don’t know about you, but Galaxy J1 (2016) looks more interesting. By the way, it is also thinner than both described competing tubes.

Pros:

  • high-quality AMOLED screen with a choice of profiles;
  • good price for their characteristics;
  • excellent assembly;
  • refreshed design;
  • acceptable quality of shooting by cameras;
  • There is an extreme power saving mode.

Minuses:

  • No LED indicator about events;
  • touch buttons are devoid of backlight;
  • no automatic screen brightness adjustment;
  • Screen resolution could be higher.

Not every user has an idea about all useful features your smartphone samsung galaxy. The problem is that many features are hidden deep in the gadget settings. Today we will talk about eight hidden opportunities smartphone under control latest version OS Android 5.0 Lollipop , which can be found in the endless list of app settings in the menu.

On most Android-devices you can take a screenshot by simultaneously pressing the volume down button and the power button.

In the case of the Samsung Galaxy, taking a screenshot requires you to press the power button and the Home button at the same time, which requires both hands. However, there is a much more interesting way: just swipe the screen with your entire palm.

Function activation:

  • GS3: Settings > Motion > Palm swipe to capture (under Hand motions)
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Motions and gestures > Palm motion > Capture screen
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > Controls > Palm motion > Capture screen
  • GS5, GS6/GS6 Edge, Note 4, Note Edge: Settings > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture
  1. Simplified mode

Countless buttons and settings Touch Wiz UI can be confusing for inexperienced users. If the interface seems too complicated, you can switch to a simplified screen mode. In this mode, larger icons are displayed on the screen, and only the phone, Internet browser, Email and custom applications, the list of which the user can make himself.

This feature is especially useful for children and the elderly.

Function activation:

  • GS3: Settings > Home screen mode > Easy mode
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Home screen mode > Easy mode
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > Device > Easy mode
  • GS5, GS6/GS6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge: Settings > Easy mode
  1. Fingerprint unlock

Fingerprints are one of the most reliable ways to identify a person. If the user wants high level protecting the information on his gadget, he will certainly choose to unlock the screen with a fingerprint.

There are two types of fingerprint unlock on Samsung's flagship smartphones. Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge use an older, less accurate swipe sensor: the user swipes down the display to the home button. New Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have a built-in fingerprint sensor, which works on the principle TouchID V iPhone: The user presses their finger on the Home button.

In addition, the fingerprint(s) can be used to sign in to Samsung accounts, other websites, and to verify your PayPal purchases.

Function activation:

  • GS5, Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge: Settings > Finger Scanner
  • GS6/GS6 Edge: Settings > Lock screen and security > Fingerprints

The GS3, GS4 and Galaxy Note 3 gadgets do not have a fingerprint scanner.

  1. Using a smartphone with gloves

As a rule, it is impossible to work with modern touchscreens with ordinary gloves: you either have to buy special gloves for touch screens or freeze your fingers. In Samsung Galaxy, you can increase the sensitivity of the display so that the user can work with a smartphone even with ordinary gloves.

Function activation:

  • GS4: Settings > My device > Display > High touch sensitivity
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > Controls > Increase touch sensitivity
  • GS5, Galaxy Note 4 / Note Edge: Settings > Display > Increase touch sensitivity

Only the GS3 does not have this setting. And in the new GS6 and GS6 Edge, the sensitivity is high by default, and no additional manipulation of the settings is required.

  1. Find your phone

Samsung Galaxy gadgets have a "Find My Mobile" feature. To activate it, the user must create a account Samsung and use it to control this feature. Owners of devices that do not have the "Find My Mobile" function can enable "Android Device Manager" and manage it using their Google account.

Function activation:

  • GS3: Settings > Security > Remote controls
  • GS4: Settings > More > Security > Device administrators > Android Device Manager
  • GS5: Settings > Security > Device administrators > Android Device Manager
  • GS6/S6 Edge: Settings > Lock screen and security > Find My Mobile
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > General > Security > Device administrators > Android Device Manager
  • Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge: Settings > Security > Remote controls
  1. Simultaneous launch of two applications

Many users believe that the Galaxy Note is the only Galaxy gadget that can run two applications at the same time. This is not the case, because "Multi window" works in the Galaxy S3, S4, S5 and the new S6/S6 Edge.

The "Multi window" function is activated with two fingers: the user swipes down with two fingers from the notification panel and turns it on in the panel quick settings. Also, the user can activate it in the application settings.

Function activation:

  • GS3: Settings > Display > Multi window
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Display > Multi window
  • GS5, Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge: Settings > Multi window
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > Device > Multi window

In GS3, GS4, GS5, Galaxy Note 3, Note 4/Note EDGE, the Multi window feature is enabled by long pressing the back button. On the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, Multi window is enabled by long pressing the multitasking bar (to the left of the “Home” button).

  1. Auto Unlock (Face/Voice/Signature)

Users of GS3, GS4, Galaxy Note or Note II gadgets can unlock their devices by simply looking at the screen. The front camera recognizes the user's face, and the gadget is unlocked.

It's not the safest way to protect your phone, because the camera can be easily fooled by a photo, but when it works, it looks very cool.

Function activation:

  • GS3: Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock > Face unlock
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Lock screen > Screen lock > Face unlock
  • Galaxy Note: Settings > Security > Screen lock > Face unlock.
  • Galaxy Note II: Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock > Face unlock

To improve security, you can add voice command by selecting "Face and voice" in the screen lock settings.

The Galaxy Note 3 does not have a visual unlock feature, instead it has a signature unlock: the user signs with the S Pen stylus.

Gadgets GS5, GS6 / GS6 Edge, Note 4 and Note Edge are unlocked in the traditional way for all Android devices.

First introduced on the Galaxy S3, Smart Stay uses the front camera to determine when to dim the brightness and turn off the display. The screen will remain active as long as the camera captures your face looking at the device's display.

Function activation:

  • GS3, GS5, Galaxy Note 4/Note Edge, GS6/GS6 Edge: Settings > Display > Smart stay
  • GS4: Settings > My device > Smart screen > Smart stay
  • Galaxy Note 3: Settings > Controls > Smart screen > Smart stay

In anticipation of the release of the new flagship Galaxy S6, Samsung has introduced a number of interesting smartphones in a more affordable price range. In addition to the thinnest model range manufacturer appeared and the most inexpensive newcomers. Galaxy J1- a budget device that attracts attention not only by the price, but also by several features with intricate characteristics. One of its modifications came to us for testing.

The camera menu is not burdened with settings, only the most necessary list of them is presented. HDR mode is not provided. The front camera is able to track the face and recognize gestures to release the shutter, you can also assign certain actions to the volume button. Effects can be applied in real time, but for post-processing you will need to install a photo editor.

The sound from the external speaker corresponds to the class of the device, it is oversaturated high frequencies and quite unpleasant. Indoors, the call is heard well, from the pocket - much worse. Sometimes the vibrating alert saves, which, however, is at the level of other modern smartphones. Thus, the possibility of missing a call is not excluded. As for listening to music, things are better here: when using a headset of average quality (30-60 USD), the sound will satisfy most listeners. For amateurs, a radio function is also provided. The sound in the conversational dynamics is not distorted, the interlocutor is recognizable, and on his part there were no complaints about the quality of voice transmission either.

Performance and autonomy

And now we come to the most mysterious part of the review. As mentioned above, the smartphone has been released in several modifications. The model in question (SM-J100FN) is similar in power to Galaxy SII. The Belarusian market has been replenished with a device with a 4-core platform (SoC) Marvell ARMADA PXA1908, which supports 64-bit computing. Its Cortex-A53 processor cores operate at frequencies up to 1.2 GHz. The Vivante GC 7000 Ultra Lite accelerator is responsible for the graphics. Contrary to the declared gigabyte of RAM, 660 MB are available in the test sample, although this is enough to run several applications and work with five tabs in the browser without noticeable "brakes". Built-in memory is small - only 4 GB, of which about half is available to the user. Salvation in this case will be a slot for cards microSD memory, which supports drives up to 64 GB.

The memory card slot is paired with one of the microSIM pockets. There can be either two such pockets (when sold by a store) or one (version with SIM-lock for telecom operators). You will need to remove the battery to install the primary SIM card. Networks up to 4G (FDD Cat .4) are supported. In the networks available at the time of the review in Belarus, the Galaxy J1 works confidently. The communication module, of course, is the only one in the device, so if one SIM card is used, the second will not be available. Communication options enhanced Bluetooth modules 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n (2.4 GHz, supports WiFi Direct), NFC. Navigation is carried out using GPS (with A-GPS support) and GLONASS. The search for satellites occurs within 2-5 minutes. The set of sensors is minimal: there is an accelerometer and a proximity sensor.

Thanks to the use of an energy-efficient platform and system optimization, a small 1850 mAh battery plays YouTube playlists for about 7 hours (Full HD video playback is also supported), and lives in 3D games for just under 3 hours (at 50% brightness and on wifi). The power of the system is far from enough for all games; if possible, we set the parameters to average values manually. In the scenario of daily use with a high load (3G surfing / communication / multimedia), the smartphone worked for 12 hours, in a gentle mode it is possible to stretch the operating time for a day. There is also a maximum power saving mode, which limits functionality, but can add another dozen hours to autonomy (depending on the battery charge level).

Charging from a regular unit lasts 1 hour 40 minutes.

conclusions

The device turned out to be very ambiguous, but no less interesting. It has something to complain about: the assembly could be better (there is a gap between the back cover and the case, but we have visited a non-serial copy), the Home button is not installed evenly. The weak points of the device are the screen with a faded picture and low resolution and rather “dirty” sound of the external speaker. The use of mediocre cameras in such a device is expected, but a two-megapixel module in this price segment looks advantageous.

On the other hand, economical battery consumption, a well-optimized system with the ability to upgrade to 5, compact dimensions, dual SIM and memory card support make this smartphone very competitive in its class. Its cost is approaching the mark of 150 euros, but after a while it will fall, as it has already happened with other novelties of the company. For such an amount, you can find both the best and worst devices, and therefore it can be called a kind of golden mean, aimed at fans of the Korean brand.

We thank the companySamsung for the smartphone provided for testing
