Tablet htc nexus 9 lte black. Information about the type of speakers and audio technologies supported by the device

Google Nexus 9 meets all the required conditions best tablet 2014. HD display? Yes! Premium hardware? Yes! Styling performance and the latest, purest android version? Yes and yes!

All of these elements come together in an attractive 8.9-inch Apple rival. iPad Air 2 and Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. It has everything a high-end tablet needs, even if the Nexus 9 doesn't emerge victorious from such a huge competition.

A fingerprint sensor, a 3D camera, and object recognition software are just some of the unnecessary “bows” that can be found on a modern tablet, but not on a Nexus. He confidently takes pride of place as the owner of one of the most powerful mobile processors on the market, with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. Abandoning flashy garbage in functionality, this tablet with its parameters has secured its place in the category of “best premium Android tablets”.

Design

The Nexus 9 rounded out Google's tablet trio, nestling nicely between the 7-inch and 10-inch Nexus models. Like its counterparts, the aesthetics of the tablet are top notch.

Its minimalist design is all the rage right now, so it doesn't really stand out. The tablet falls short of the thin iPad Air 2 or the feather-light Fire HDX 8.9, though the weight and thickness are very close.

This 8.9-inch tablet (available in black, white and gold) has rounded corners and a soft matte back. The brushed metal frame throughout the body provides wider finger edges, reducing bezel fingerprints to a minimum.

The power button and volume rocker are located almost flush with the case on the right side. A pair of speakers also cleverly mate with the front of the tablet, just in front of the screen.

Nexus 9 is very comfortable to hold: rounded corners fit nicely in the palm of your hand when landscape orientation screen, and the smooth texture of the back panel is very pleasant to the touch. People with big hands they can quite easily hold a tablet in one hand, but guys with short fingers will have to suffer.

Google, although not considering its tablet as a portable multitasker, offers a keyboard case for more comfortable work with the Nexus 9. Together with text functions Android and NFC capabilities, the tablet can act as budget option for extremely productive results.

Iron

One of the iron arguments of the Nexus 9 is its modern components. It was first equipped with a 64-bit version of the Nvidia Tegra K1 system with a 2.3GHz dual-core Denver CPU and a 192-core Kepler DX1 GPU. It also features fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets do not support microSD cards, so there is nothing strange in the fact that in this version this connector is also missing. Cloud Google services created to replace the memory card, and the Nexus 9 expands the internal storage from 16 to 32 GB. According to Google, a 32GB 4G LTE version will be available soon.

Performance

The collaboration between Google and HTC has created a very capable product with some quirks. His most recent Nvidia technology The Tegra K1 Denver is a beast ready to break through any challenge at any moment. As the first 64-bit chip backed by a 64-bit OS, its processor performance is on par with the fastest and most powerful chips.

Navigating the OS, switching and running apps is so fast it's almost creepy. Performance also remains impressively smooth, even with a large number of applications open in background. There were about 20 applications running at the same time, and we were still able to play "heavy" games without a single lag.

With steady WiFi connection, surfing with the Nexus 9 is just lightning fast. Web pages appear almost before you touch the screen, and large apps open impressively quickly. Only the iPad Air 2 can compete with its high-speed Wi-Fi. The Nexus 9 valiantly holds its well-deserved height, but the enemy is ahead of it by a few seconds. Wi-Fi speed was tested at a distance of half a meter from the router, with full signal strength.

The performance of the Nexus 9 during gaming is no joke. The levels in the games load very quickly (in a few seconds), and the graphics are impressively smooth and pleasing. The Nexus 9 earns a high 3DMark score, keeping up with the equipped under Nvidia games Shield and the almost ubiquitous opponent of the iPad Air 2. It wins both in terms of graphics, excelling in rendering sharp geometric shapes, and in processing pixel art.

For all its speed, the Nexus 9 is not without flaws. Sometimes apps would launch in a blank and unresponsive screen, or launch quickly and crash. Once it rebooted without a user prompt, immediately after unlocking, and quite often the sensor reacted with a huge delay.

It is reasonable to believe that all these absurdities encountered during the test were caused not so much by hardware as by Android 5.0 shortcomings, since not all applications run correctly on this OS version yet. It is quite predictable that applications do not have time to adapt to new technology as quickly as it comes out.

The touchscreen very often does not respond due to the fact that it is dirty, slightly wet, or you gesture too quickly. Just hold your finger for a few milliseconds while touching - and there will be no braking. The tablet can be awakened from sleep mode by simply tapping the screen twice. It's fast and simple alternative way turn on the device without bothering with the search for the power button.

4:3 IPS screen, which supports a resolution of 2048x1536, gives an incomparably clear picture and boasts wide viewing angles. Although its maximum brightness is a bit dim, it is almost impossible to work outdoors. In addition, although it visually satisfies the user with bright and saturated colors, it is still inferior to the colors of competitors. Compared to the iPad Air 2 and Fire HDX 8.9 HD, video looked more colorful and detailed on both competitors.

The HTC SoomSound speakers on the front of the tablet sound loud and clear, even with some bass. However, the quality is not as good as the Fire HDX 8.9. Enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology, the Amazon tablet comes with some of the best speakers on the market.

The slightly domed 8MP rear camera with LED flash is surprisingly one of best solutions tablet. The native camera app is pretty basic. It has a blur feature, a panorama feature, as well as 360-degree capture (Photo Sphere feature). There is a handy camera shortcut on the lock screen for quick access.

Photos and videos taken from the rear camera in full resolution come out impressively contrasting and realistic. The f/2.4 aperture can take pictures in low light without a flash, but, logically, there will be a lot of digital noise. The rear flash, with its limited range and slow response, is mostly not used.

Auto focus is a bit slower than manual focus. In addition to the focus delay, there is a delay between the moment you press the photo button and, in fact, the picture. The shot lasts for a few seconds, and if you are photographing on the move, the photo will unfortunately be blurry.

While working with the tablet, it was found that it is charging very slowly. If it is completely discharged, charging will take at least 3 hours. This is not much, but the expectations from such a tablet were somewhat different. Interestingly, the Nexus 9 battery lasts about 8 hours of heavy use. According to Google, the tablet has a 6,700 mAh battery that should give you 10 hours on a full charge.

Conclusion

Don't be put off by its outward simplicity and elegance, the Nexus 9 is a real monster. This joint project between Google and HTC has created a powerful tablet for daily use, which has all the premium features of the Android OS. Amazon, Apple and Google offer a very high quality product, and if you purchase it, you get access to all the possible features of the tablet at the moment.

While the Nexus 9 costs $399 instead of $499 for the more expensive iPad Air 2, it still outperforms the iPad in several raw performance metrics. Other alternatives also include the media monster Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 ($379), Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 ($399), and gamer's friend Nvidia Shield ($299).

In the face of these premium tablets, the Nexus 9 stands out very sharply with the latest version of Android with a contract for future updates. If you're looking for a high-end alternative to Apple, a modified Samsung TouchWiz or Amazon Fire, take a closer look at the Nexus 9.

Instead of chasing the original design or pushing the user " best apps of the month," the Nexus 9 follows the golden rule of Google's tablets: a thin yet durable device equipped with the latest android firmware. When they first released the Nexus in 2013, the tablets were very similarly packaged, and a year later they were one of the best solutions in their category. It looks like the same story with the Nexus 9. With two of the latest processors, a fresh operating system, and a user-friendly design, this 8.9-inch tablet deserves its rightful place at the top of the Android tablet hierarchy.

Positioning

The Nexus line was born as a desire of Google to show the possibilities of pure and uncomplicated Android, without all sorts of shells, add-ons and additional programs. The first product in January 2010 was the Nexus One manufactured by HTC. This device did not show any achievements in terms of sales, like most of the Nexus line, tablets from Asus - Nexus 7 versions of 2012 and 2013 were a happy exception.

The perception of the Google brand has always been rather high level among technology enthusiasts, which cannot be said about ordinary consumers, the latter still choose not the Google brand, but Android, and look at other characteristics. The surprising thing is that Android's visibility is staggering, accounting for 86 percent of the global smartphone market in 2014. And users know that the brand belongs to Google, but in the consumer mind, Google is search. Few people are ready to buy pieces of iron from the search giant, and this was one of the reasons for the closure of the Nexus line, which has not been officially announced, and it is unlikely that the funeral will be magnificent. In January 2014, these plans only appeared, now we can say that at most one more device will be released in this series, and then it will quietly and peacefully cease to exist. With this, the Nexus 9 becomes the latest tablet in the Nexus series. It seems to me that there is a certain symbolism in the fact that Nexus began with Google's collaboration with HTC and, apparently, ends with it.

One of the advantages of the Nexus line was the quick upgrade of devices to latest versions Android. This was the main advantage, in addition to the low price of the Nexus line of devices. But since 2014, these devices have gradually become more expensive, the number of manufacturers willing to produce them has been reduced, in fact, the line has died by itself. Without aggressive pricing, the Nexus line isn't that interesting. And what is still a ghostly advantage today, with the advent of Android 5.1 (well, or whatever they call it, which doesn’t matter) will become a built-in option for any smartphone on this platform.

There was no fight over who will release the Nexus tablet among manufacturers. The fact that HTC decided to use the Nexus brand for its device is understandable, the company did not succeed with tablets from the first days of their appearance, all attempts to become a successful player in this segment turned into a failure. Even before the release of the iPad, the company created several prototypes, but was not satisfied with them, they did not go into series. the only serial device became the Flyer tablet, which never gained much fame.

But at the same time, Flyer was created in the style of the company, taking into account what buyers are used to seeing - metal, but most importantly - a design that is unlike the devices of other companies. In the Nexus 9 model, these features are partially preserved, but the device is clearly trying to reduce the cost. It turned out to be a half-hearted solution, which is always bad. Against the background of the metal iPad Air, this device is made of plastic, and it feels quite inexpensive. But the main thing is that it does not strike at all with the cost, it is quite high. Therefore, this Nexus is not highlighted in any way, no one expects huge sales, and in Russia retail chains consider it exclusively as a niche offer. Initially, only Svyaznoy agreed to sell it, choosing the top-end 32 GB version with LTE support. It is also an indicator of how the product is perceived, its prospects in the mass market are foggy. In the world, the situation is approximately similar, Nexus products are not in great demand, they are bought by fans of pure Android, which, in fact, are not so many. But often they are put off by the high cost. In the case of the Nexus 9, I do not see any large audience of those who will be ready to buy such a tablet on Android and below, we will try to figure out why together.

Design, dimensions, controls

The model is available in three colors - white, black and sand, the last color can be safely considered gold, they just worked on the name so as not to overlap with other manufacturers.

In all cases, the front panel is black, only the color of the back cover differs. The case is non-separable, which has long become a familiar feature of most tablets. In the LTE version, there is a nanoSIM slot on the case, and this is where the differences end.

The quality of the plastic, at first glance, is not bad, the feeling persists until the moment you pick up the device. Velvety in appearance, it gives the impression of inexpensive, and most importantly, very thin. The back cover, where the battery is located, has voids, and when pressed lightly, the cover walks a little. I emphasize that when you pick up a tablet, you will not feel it. Maybe it will be one time out of ten, but the very slovenliness of this kind spoils the impression of the device. In the same iPad or Galaxy Tab S, nothing walks, everything is assembled and adjusted for centuries.

The front panel is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, here you can see the peephole of the front camera with a resolution of 1.6 megapixels (720P video). From the noteworthy, I note the holes of two stereo speakers, which are located on the sides of the screen in landscape orientation. This is clearly done with intent so that you can listen to music while watching videos or playing games, hence the choice of this orientation. Hands cover the speakers when you hold the tablet, and subconsciously expect the sound to get worse. This does not happen, moreover, the feeling that the sound becomes even a little louder. The system was called BoomSound, this is a proprietary development of HTC. On a pleasant note, unlike all other tablets, there is a deeper sound, higher volume, the device sounds good. It is far from external speakers or music devices, but among tablets it definitely stands out. In order to save space, speakers are usually placed in tablets at the ends, for example, in the video for this review, I show the difference in sound with the Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

On the upper left side (in landscape orientation) there is an on/off button, right there is a volume rocker. In the Western media, the issue is being discussed that the buttons are heavily recessed and not very convenient. Allegedly, there are even games with “bad” and “good” buttons. But I think that this is all very far-fetched, there were no changes in production, this is an aberration of perception by specific people.

On the left side there is a 3.5 mm jack. The main camera is placed sideways on the rear panel, there is even an LED flash. Why is it needed, given the quality of cameras in tablets, it is not clear to me. And as a flashlight, it is unlikely to come in handy, although suddenly someone, somewhere, sometime. I don't know, in a word, why they did it.

The tablet measures 228.2 x 153.7 x 8 mm and weighs 425 grams. It's no longer as compact as the 7- and 8-inch tablets, as you can see when compared to them in the photos below.

It is clear that the size of the tablet is determined by the screen diagonal, here it is 8.9 inches, but its geometry is the same as that of the iPad - 4:3. Is it a minus? Yes, for those who like to watch movies, a 16:10 screen geometry is more suitable (16:9 as an option). The choice of such a screen was also dictated by the overall dimensions of the device, it does not look compact, therefore, it belongs more to the class of large tablets, the popularity of which has been declining lately, the demand is shifting to more compact devices, and this is not so much a question of price as of convenience of daily use.

I thought that I could be unfair in assessing the quality of the tablet, and pestered everyone around me, trying to get an answer about how they feel about the Nexus 9, what they can say about the build quality. Almost unanimously, everyone said that it should be an inexpensive device based on the materials of the case.

Display

The screen in the Nexus 9 is presented by absentee fans of this device as something that deserves the closest attention. They, without knowing it themselves, really found the most painful point in this device, but first let's look at specifications, which inspired certain expectations. IPS matrix, 8.9 inches, has a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels, there is an automatic brightness control.

My first impression of the display was the most correct - dim. Used to use iPad of the third generations (where the screen, oh, how far from ideal) is at 70 percent of the backlight, and here at the maximum everything is very sad. I do not have enough brightness, and the picture quality also suffers from this, the colors are just as dull, as if dusty. Somehow it reminded me of Motorola XOOM, but it came out in 2010. I took a tablet like the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with a SuperAMOLED screen and the highest brightness among all devices. No comparison, the Nexus 9 is just out of the league. On the screen, it loses to almost all devices on the market, perhaps comparable to the budget ones. They saved on the screen here, and very much, however, another explanation is possible, that the high brightness led to the wildest battery consumption. Video playback at maximum brightness is about 7 hours at best. Other companies - from 10 hours and more. Feel the difference?

In the photographs - just a comparison of the screens, which does not fully convey their difference, you have to watch it live.

Perhaps the screen is the main component for the tablet, what we see all the time. Making it not the best is beyond comprehension. Even on the Nexus 7 from 2013, the screen is noticeably brighter and, as a result, perceived sharper.

Battery

The capacity of the built-in Li-Pol battery is 6700 mAh. At first glance, the tablet works exactly the same as its classmates, but in reality everything turns out to be not so rosy at all. The maximum video playback time is up to 7 hours (without sound), while all key devices play it from 10 hours and more. Approximately the same in other modes of operation, the difference is 30-35 percent.

During operation, the tablet gets quite hot around the main camera. Moreover, this work is not under load, but under normal conditions, which is surprising and leads to suspicion that the platform from NVidia is not optimized here. We did not observe anything similar in the other two tablets on the Tegra K1.

Hardware platform, memory, RAM

The tablet does not have memory cards, which has become the hallmark of the Nexus line. But if in previous generations this was due to savings, then why the memory card was not installed here, I do not understand. You can buy two versions of the tablet, 16 and 32 GB. In principle, this will be enough for many, but the limitation is quite severe and uncharacteristic for Android, especially for a tablet in this price group.

2 GB of RAM, apparently, they also decided to save a little and not put 3 GB.

Inside there is a processor from NVidia, this is Tegra K1 Denver. Dual-core with a maximum frequency of up to 2.3 GHz, while in synthetic tests demonstrating remarkable performance, at the level best processors from Qualcomm and Samsung, even more.

The first thing that may confuse consumers accustomed to processor races is that there are only two cores. But the 64-bit Denver architecture was created by NVidia in order to reduce the number of cores while maintaining performance. The Nexus 9 tablet is the first device on the market with this processor. NVidia modestly says that such a processor provides PC-level performance, for example, like Intel Haswell or Apple A7.

I can’t judge what the heating of the device is connected with, as well as its short operating time, but I suspect that this may be the processor and its non-optimization in a particular device. In fact, there is nothing to compare with, so I won’t guess, let’s see, maybe NVidia will update the Shield with this processor and show its real capabilities. While the feeling is that it is very damp. Compared to the same NVIDIA Shield Tablet sometimes has slowdowns in the menu (the main menu, you can see it on our video), I haven't encountered anything like this for a long time.

Camera

In tablets, cameras are disappointing, and this tablet is also disappointing. When shooting in the dark, everything is bad and very bad; in sunny or cloudy weather, you can look at the pictures, but you will not amaze anyone with them. Sample photos and videos are below.

Communication options

The LTE version has a fairly wide support for different bands, the device will work all over the world. From the unusual - Bluetooth 4.1 with all profiles plus apt-X for music. Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. USB 2.0 version.

Impression

Inside the tablet is pure Android 5.0, I don’t see the point in describing it separately, the changes in comparison with previous versions you can see in the video.

In terms of PR, the Nexus 9 has a lot of nice words for a geek's ear - the Tegra K1 processor, comparable in performance to computer processors, stereo speakers with surround sound, a high-resolution IPS matrix, the Nexus brand. But in practice, the product turned out to be raw, and some kind of incompleteness is felt in many aspects of its work. It does not produce any wow effect, rather, on the contrary, it disappoints.

In addition to the tablet, you can purchase a transformer cover or a keyboard cover.

In the US, the device is priced pre-tax at $399, $469, and $599 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 32GB LTE versions, respectively. By comparison, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 16GB Wi-Fi costs $399 in the US, but it has a memory card and significantly best screen. Some will say that you can’t compare devices with a diagonal of 8.4 and 8.9 inches, but for me the Nexus 9 is still closer to the Tab S than to the iPad Air, the latter can be bought in the US from $399. And this is where the dilemma arises, whether to take the well-known iPad Air in a metal case or the not-too-understandable Nexus 9. What do you think the average consumer will choose? I bet on the iPad.

In Russia, the price of a pre-order at the end of October for a version of 32 GB and with LTE was set as close as possible to the American one - 29,990 rubles. But in the same Svyaznoy, the cost was removed, although the pre-order page exists, and the model’s appearance dates have already shifted from November to the second half of December. And it is not very clear whether it is needed at a price of 35-36 thousand rubles, or even more.

There are plenty to choose from on the Russian market, I would suggest considering the first generation Apple Air or Galaxy Tab S 8.4 as alternatives, these devices will do their job quite well. But I would definitely not recommend the Nexus 9 as a purchase that will please you. It is possible that the enthusiasts of the Nexus line will not agree with me. Too bad the last Nexus tablet came out like this. Although, perhaps, there will be another device, but its fate is in question.

Google Nexus tablets have always attracted buyers with their adequate price with good quality and optimal configuration. And the main trump card of this line and now is the ability to get all the updates of the Android system among the first.

The previous Nexus 7 by ASUS turned out to be very successful and affordable, and it was not in vain that we often justifiably offered it as an alternative to the tested tablets. A ten-inch model was also released, but it was not particularly popular. Now Google has returned to its roots and, together with HTC, has updated the tablet, equipping it with an 8.9-inch screen. I think that the tandem of two well-established giants should not disappoint us with their product.

The latest operating system, cutting-edge hardware and the HTC nameplate are eye-catching, but serious competition and now a not-so-low price make us take a closer look at choosing this particular tablet. It's time to see what kind of "beast" this is, the newly minted HTC Nexus 9.

advertising

It was announced in October 2014 and has been available for sale since November. Several configurations are announced: a Wi-Fi version with 16 or 32 GB of memory and an LTE version with 32 GB of memory on board. Available in black, white, and sand color options, the 4G sand models will be the latest to go on sale. In any case, the full range of devices should hit store shelves en masse this year.

HTC Nexus 9 is officially delivered to the Russian market and is accompanied by appropriate support. It is worth saying a few words about the approximate cost of new items: Wi-Fi / 16 GB - 24,000 rubles, Wi-Fi / 32 GB - 28,000 rubles, LTE / 32 GB - 35,000 rubles.

Thanks to the VProstore online store, we tested a black tablet without a cellular module with 32 GB of memory. A detailed study of HTC Nexus 9, let's start with short description parameters.

The HTC brand is known to many users thanks to quality smartphones. Recently, tablets of this brand have also appeared on the market. Model HTC Nexus 9, as in the version with LTE, is a tablet with high-quality filling that will satisfy even the most demanding customers.

Versions of the gadget differ only in data transfer technology

Let's look at all the technical characteristics, advantages and abilities of the tablets in this series. By the way, they are identical in content and appearance. The only difference is in the LTE function. The first ones do not have it, but the second version has this function.

The package bundle is modest. It includes everything only the most necessary: instructions, warranty card, Charger And USB cable. Other accessories sold separately.

Design

Outwardly, this model is very similar to the Nexus 5 smartphone, which is not surprising - the gadgets belong to the same brand. The color of the tablet is black, versions in golden and white colors are also available. The material is plastic, on the back there is a soft-touch (a coating due to which no fingerprints remain on the case, and the device itself does not slip in the hands).

The screen occupies most of the front, there are also speakers. They are located at the top and bottom. The front camera and light sensor are also located here. As for other interfaces, the main camera is located in the upper left corner on the back of the device, headphone jack and led indicator located at the top, and at the bottom - the port mini USB. On the right side of the tablet are the volume and on / off keys.

You won't find anything else here. However, it seems to us that such tablet minimalism is more of a plus than a minus. As for the slot for Sim-cards or memory cards, they are not supported here. Generally HTC Nexus 9 and its second version turned out to be beautiful and high-quality devices, the appearance of which is fully consistent with their cost. Even though the screen size is HTC Nexus 9 not minimal, but rather average, the tablet turned out to be small in size. In addition, it weighs less than 500 grams, so it is extremely pleasant and convenient to use it.

Screen

As expected, HTC Nexus 9 Wi-Fi/LTE equipped with an IPS screen. These matrices are distinguished by good color reproduction, wide viewing angles (in this model they are almost maximum) and relatively.

The screen size is 8.9 inches, the resolution is 2048x1536 pixels, the dot density is 281 per inch. If we talk about size, then 8.9 inches is the golden mean between 8 and 10-inch displays. Tablets with similar displays are convenient in everyday use. They are not so big, so it is comfortable to carry them everywhere and with you, but not so small, so you can afford comfortable watching movies.

It is impossible not to mention more than worthy indicators of resolution and dot density - without them, the picture would not have turned out so clear. Pixelation is visible only when viewed very closely, excellent color reproduction, there is no deviation in cold or warm shades, this makes the image very natural. Brightness HTC Nexus 9 also at a high level. You can work and communicate with your tablet even in the brightest sunlight.

It has already been mentioned that next to the front camera there is a light sensor that will automatically increase or decrease the brightness depending on the amount of light in the room. The work of the sensor cannot be blamed for incorrectness.

In general, the screen is a strong point of the tablet, it has good technical performance, and accordingly, it can easily cope with web browsing, photo and video content, as well as downloading games.

Performance

The processor is another highlight HTC Nexus 9 both versions - with and without LTE. The device comes with a powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 with four cores and a clock speed of 2.3 GHz. In conjunction with it, the NVIDIA Kepler DX1 video adapter works, the RAM is 2 GB.

This trio provides a high-performance tablet, thanks to which it copes with any task. By these we mean not only the use of the Internet or applications, multitasking, but also the playback of any streaming video and support for all games, even those that place high demands on performance and graphics.

Moreover, the model has a net android system, which consumes a minimum of resources.

Multimedia Features HTC Nexus 9 LTE/Wi-Fi

If necessary, HTC Nexus 9 LTE/Wi-Fi can easily cope with the role of a compact multimedia center, because it has all the necessary characteristics for this. Movies and streaming video will be played on the screen in high quality thanks to the high performance and powerful graphics of the tablet.

The sound in HTC Nexus 9 LTE/Wi-Fi is provided by two speakers, which, we recall, are placed in front of the screen (top and bottom). Due to their location, they remain open even when the device is in the hands of the user. The sound quality is good, the speakers are loud for a tablet. It is important that when working at maximum volume, the speakers do not start to wheeze and produce clear sound.

Despite the seemingly continuous advantages, ideal devices, as you know, do not exist. So, for example, the amount of memory on a tablet is 16 or 32 GB, depending on the version of the device, most of which is spent on applications. The main problem is the lack of an SD card slot - they are simply not supported here, so you can't expand the memory.

Battery and operating time

The HTC Nexus 9 LTE/Wi-Fi has a 6700 mAh battery. This is not the largest volume, but sufficient for almost seven hours of continuous video playback. Not every tablet is able to demonstrate such results.

Accordingly, with moderate use, the tablet will work quietly throughout the working day. If you use it not so often, then the charge will last for several days.

Camera

Cameras in tablets are their weak point. In the case of the HTC Nexus 9, everything is not so simple - the 8 MP main module present here has a flash and autofocus and shoots much better than many competitors. The front camera with a resolution of 1.2 MP will quite cope with video communication, and it is silly to demand more from it.

The cameras of the HTC Nexus 9 do not reach the modules in smartphones, but they look good against the background of other tablets. If you use them in extreme cases, for example, when you need to take an urgent picture or take a photo in good light, then the result will not disappoint you.

We note a small drawback in the camera application - it does not fine tuning, effects, easy ISO adjustment or white balance. This problem is solved by installing any additional application for the camera. Thus, HTC Nexus 9 "keeps its mark" even in such an insignificant point for the evaluation of the tablet as "Camera".

Operating system and programs

HTC Nexus 9 is running Android 5.1. The interface has been updated in every detail, up to a simplified design of icons and the arrangement of a number of windows or panels in the form of layers. In general, this is the same Android with a new and improved design.

There are absolutely none among the pre-installed system components, but there is almost everything possible applications from Google, starting with mail and browser and ending with a notepad for notes. The presence of such popular applications can be considered a good solution.

Competitors

According to its characteristics, the tablet can compete with top-end devices like samsung galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Apple iPad mini 2, which can cost even less than HTC Nexus 9. Therefore, when choosing between them, be guided by your own taste - if you prefer Android over iOS, then HTC Nexus 9 will be a worthy choice.

Advantages and disadvantages

HTC Nexus 9 Wi-Fi and HTC Nexus 9 LTE have the following features:

  • Quality screen;
  • High performance;
  • Quality speakers;
  • Long battery life.

The main disadvantage of the device is the lack of a slot for a memory card and a small amount of built-in storage. There are no other significant shortcomings in the review model. Unless someone may not like the price.

conclusions

Tablets HTC Nexus 9 and HTC Nexus 9 LTE are the same in all respects. They are powerful devices with a beautiful design that easily cope with the tasks - Internet access, multitasking, multimedia playback and modern games.

In general, if you are not confused by the amount of memory, the inability to deliver a memory card, and you want to purchase a truly high-quality product, make a choice in favor of HTC Nexus 9.
